Up near the TOP of things I miss about living in Okc is going to all the Okc Thunder Games!!! I am lucky, my parents have had season tickets since the very first Okc game!! Which by the way was o much fun! Anyhoo.... so when I knew I was going home Dad excitedly informed me I would be home for a playoff game! Yahoo!!
Playoffs are like nothing else and it's not just because you get free shirts, ha! But this was a special game this was the game we closed out Round 1 beating the Mavs!!! The energy is like nothing else!
My whole family fell in love with the NBA when I danced for The Hornets and that love has never stopped! I LOVE going to games and going with Mom and Dad... thats my favorite!
We are currently in the midst of Round 2 and our fingers are crossed!!! Matt and I have already decided if we take it all the way we WILL fly home just for a Finals Game... thats History! I flew home, what 3 years ago when we played Miami in the finals and it was the BEST! I was just sad Matt couldn't come.... so it's time!!! We can do it
This was the perfect way to end my quick trip home to OKC!! Thunder UP!
I have always said that on my list of things I miss most about Okc is going to the Okc Thunder Games! I miss being in the know, part of the hype and being able to cheer on my team at least once a week! SO when Okc comes to Denver to play the Nuggets I get all sorts of excited... just ask my husband! Since we only get to see them once a year now give or take when they come here we really try to get the best seats possible..... and on Tuesday night we were row 6 behind the net next to the Thunder bench!!
Not only were our seats great but we were literally sat right next to the Nuggets Dancers which you know made me super happy! Matt had to keep telling me to stop starring but I wasn't doing it badly, I just love professional dancers and being that close really made me miss dancing for the NBA!
The crowd was FULL of Okc fans and we cheered our little hearts out for the WIN!! It was great seeing a Thunder WIN! And I guess you could say that after we went to the Bronco Playoff game on Sunday and 2 days later the Thunder NBA game it was a great week in sports for us two! I tell Matt he is lucky he wife loves going to sporting events as much as he does!

So we all know my love for the Okc Thunder and I know what all Oklahomans know.....that our guys are special! Our Okc Thunder has some of the most genuine players in the league and Son of the Congo just highlighted that times a MILLION!
This documentary about Serge Ibaka ripped my heart out.....
It made me sad for Serge as it showed how when he goes home to the Congo all everyone wants from him is money. People literally follow him around yelling at him to give them money. You see how that weighs on him and not in how you would expect it to. He wants to help everyone but he can't and you can see how that weighs on his heart. While in the Congo he helps fit people with hearing aides and watching him be apart of what for most is the first time they ever hear ...... it's strong. Powerful.
Also Serge donates $500,000 of supplies to an orphanage that he visits in the Congo and the emotion he displays is what we all feel or should feel when we see how awful it is for those children. It's heartbreaking.
One of my favorite quotes is when Serge is referring to the Playoffs last year when he came back to play even with a calf injury and he says "Sleeping on the street, having no food, being alone in the Congo is hard.... sacrificing for my teammates in the NBA Playoffs.... no thats not hard".
You just need to watch this documentary for yourself and you will be touched, I promise. I could go on and on about how much I loved it and how much it touched me but you need to watch it for yourself.
All I could think about while watching this is... what am I doing? I wish my life could matter or make a difference in someone else's life. Food for thought.
On Monday night our Okc Thunder was in town to play the Nuggets and I knew we had to go!! So last minute I got us tickets off of Flash Seats and I knew they were good but we had no idea how good until we got to the arena!!! We were directly behind the Nuggets bench with FLOOR SEATS! I mean I flipped my lid! (Too bad it wasn't behind the Thunder bench)
I mean literally look how close we were and this is NOT using zoom! Since we were right behind the bench I called my parents and throughout the whole game they said they saw us sitting there!!! I mean it was the coolest!
We heard Russell smack talk the Nuggets bench and yes, every time I yelled for my Thunder I may or may not have received some evil eyes!
We had so much fun and our Thunder won the game! It was even more fun because it was last minute and a complete surprise that our tickets were floor seats!!!!!!
A few weeks ago Matt and I were super excited because Matt got tickets to see our Thunder play here in Denver for his Birthday!! I was real excited to bring my love for OKC to the Nuggets game!
We had great seats and of course.... this wasn't like a Okc Thunder home game....... not a ton of people were there even though they did beat us!
I just love seeing our guys play even without Durant and Westbrook who both sat court side due to injuries! I scream and yelled my little heart out....we even caught a T-shirt which we gave a to Nuggets fan in front of us!

You know Thunder Nation could not be prouder of the fact that our very own KD is MVP!!! And the thing is he isn't just a great player but he is a REAL role model. You never see that anymore....... KD is someone who is blessed with talent that could make him turn out one way but instead he loves his Mom and proudly boasts how Jesus Christ is #1 is in his life. I swear that KD>......I want to give him a big bear hug! That made last Tuesdays game extra special.......I got to go to the playoff game with my family and watch KD get honored by the NBA commissioner!
We had the best time at this game, I screamed so much my throat hurt all week!!! And we WON!!! After the game there was a huge storm so we even had fun being trapped in the arena until 12:30am! ha!

Get this....I got to run into a LONG time friend of mine Julie at the game! I have known Julie for 23+ years but we haven't seen each other in person in forever!!! It was so nice to run into her, she hasn't aged ONE day!!!!
Oh and did I mention this was just a normal Wednesday night hanging out with Jay Z at the game?? Yup! Jay Z was just ONE of the many celebrities that were at the game that night.....and he walked right by us!!! He has 99 Problems but a KD aint one!
Hey Guys........right now I am leaving on a jet plane................ I am headed to Oklahoma and Playoff game bound! Thats right tonight I am going to the Thunder- Clippers game and then the rest of the week I will be celebrating my sisters college graduation from The University of Oklahoma as well as Mother's Day with both of my families!!!!!

Yes, I am BACK a few days early because I am home on a SNOW day! We got freezing rain on top of 6+ inches of snow....no need for me to risk anything to make it into work.
I think we all know that I love my OKC Thunder and I can NOT wait to be home for Christmas and go to a game! Thunder Up! I think you also know that I love each of these players, Okc is so lucky to have such wonderful guys! Kevin Durant is the face of our team and there could not be a better role model for ......anyone to have. KD is a man of God and he is not shy about that........ a few years back everyone always wanted to know what was in his backpack at the games.....it was a big "thing"! What was in it...... his Bible.
I have talked about Life Church many times here on the blog and I am also very much looking forward to going to the Christmas Eve service when we are home. Last week Pastor Craig did a message on Spiritual Growth and this message was thru Kevin Durant's testimony. Today is a VERY exciting day......Mom, Dad and Marissa will be on their way tomorrow to come spend Labor Day weekend with us! It is also extra special because today ismy Dad's 60th Birthday. (Sorry for the age reveal Dad) Isn't it weird how we don't see age when we see our parents? Dad is Dad and to think that he actually ages is absurd! ha! Matt and I are SOO excited that for Dad's Birthday present we are crossing off one of his top 5 "Bucket List" desires! We are taking a day trip Saturday to Dayton, Ohio to visit the National Museum of the US Air Force. My Dad is a private pilot and many of my memories are flying with Dad in his plane to visit fun places in Oklahoma. So being able to share in this experience with Dad fills my heart with so much joy.
Isn't it funny how Dad's are the tough ones, the person in your life who should know how to do everything and even be able to guide you thru anything via the phone? I talk to my Mom every.single.day and in a way I always feel like I am talking to Dad too since I know everything they are doing......BUT......it isn't the same. I need to remember to call Dad more, just Dad. I miss him just as much as Mom and I hope he always knows that.
Being 18 hours away gives me a lot to miss back home. I miss.......... Thunder Games with Dad, the Thunder is a love we all share and to me it is the essence of the 4 of us above. I miss running to the car in 30' temperatures because we didn't want to carry our coat into the game, I miss screaming until we can't anymore and I miss seeing the joy of the game on my Dads face! NOW......true, we can always go to a game when we visit the family in Oklahoma but I miss the weekly games and dinners shared with my Mom and Dad. I may not say it enough but I love my Dad and I hope he has the happiest of Birthdays!
While we were in Okc for Christmas we were lucky enough to get to go to the Thunder vs Mavs game with my parents! I can't tell you how much I miss this. I have never been a person who is a die hard fan of a team but now I get it.......I love this team. I feel like the players are family and when I was at the game it was like being home.
There is a new restaurant open in the arena that Mom got us reservations for before the game and it was so good!! And yes, it is that popular that you need a reso! It was nice already being inside the arena but relaxing with a good meal before the game instead of hotdogs!
Since the Thunder was the Okc Thunder I have been at every season opener and many many games every season as well as cheering them on in the NBA finals.....I was spoiled! Being back was so much fun, I love that the people around my parents seats know us, I love that the usher for their section knows us.....it is like family.
For me this arena AKA The Chesapeake Arena holds a special place in my heart. This place will always hold a spot in my memories ....... On this "floor" over the years when I danced for the NBA and the AFL I have performed over 50 times. Countless dances, performances, practices and try-outs happened here. I know the tunnels under the stadium by heart, I know the feeling of excitement before a game and I know what it feels like to perform in front of 18,000+ fans!
In this stadium on Honeybee night 2007 I was given the MC microphone by Rob the Hornets MC and asked to do the 4th quarter introduction! It was amazing...I remember just part of what I said "Let's make some noise"!!!! This building holds so many memories for me and it is bittersweet being back at a game.
Now, this video is not good quality......it is from someones phone but I had to share it with you. Trust me I have searched the web like a crazy person looking for a better copy of this video! This is this years Thunder Pre-game video and it truly sums up in a nice package what I love about Oklahoma. Photo montages have a way of getting to me every time but the love in this video truly expresses the love I have and so many more have for this team and our state.

Ya....so.....this happened!!!!!!!!! And of course I am proud of the team as a whole but what other team has 3 bringing home the GOLD??? Thunder UP!
