Lots of Laughs

You guys here is the thing.... I just don't watch comedies on TV, movies... YES.... TV? Not really. Mostly because they are not funny to me, comedies seem to be just plain stupid. I am a Drama girl all the way on my DVR but lately I have expanded and I have to share! Lets jump right in...
Ok, surely unless you are living under a rock then you have to have heard about the new Netflix show Santa Clarita Diet! You guys this is FUNNY!! And even my parents are hooked! This is a new take on zombies and Drew Barrymore is perfection ..... just watch it. DO IT. TRUST ME and did I mention they are Realtors? Hysterical!

Next up is The Mick on Fox and although sometimes its stupid I am HOOKED! It is so funny and just watch it! You can catch up OnDemand and I insist you do!

Friday Round UP!

I am going to be honest I don't have a ton to say right now because for the past week 4 days I never left my bed and then the rest of it was spent on the couch. And we all know I love my couch time but I could just scream, I am so tired of being sick. This afternoon I go to the Acupuncturist who I am hoping can get my body in check and help push me to get better and back on track. Fingers Crossed.

Anyways today I have 3 fun reviews for you and they go GREAT, Good, eh.......

* OK, I know...like you haven't heard about this show by now and most likely you have already watched it but for the few of you left (BECKY I am talking to you) DO IT NOW! No really, watch it this weekend.... I swear to you, you will love it. It is Steven King meets the Goonies and I can go on for days about why I love it. The kids are perfect, it was like they were born to be in the show... literally. Matt loved this show, my parents loved this show...... trust me, you will thank me.

* Suicide Squad
2 weekends ago Matt and I went to see this... you know we love a good Super Hero movie so we were excited about this. This movie got terrible reviews so my hopes were not very high BUT We loved it! Ya, the story is weak but the way it is presented was too much fun. And the music??? We bought the soundtrack on ITunes before we even made it to the car! This is just a fun, no thinking required movie that your husband will most likely love!

* The book review......
SO, everyone loves this author myself included and right now this is the HOT book of Summer but I have to ask myself WHY>????? I was being nice when I gave this 3 stars on Goodreads! So this is about one fateful BBQ and the lead up lasts 3/4 of the book... when it is finally revealed what exactly happened it was the BIGGEST let down. The chapters of this book are about 4 pages and every chapter switches point of views, time frames and it is so confusing and it is confusing with pointless back stories that I couldn't wait to be done of. Listen, this isn't the worst book but this is completely forgettable. Don't waste your Summer reading this.

The Story of God

The past few weeks I have been watching this mini-series on NatGeo called The Story of God and I am entranced. Here is the thing though this isn't a typical Christian documentary on our God but this series explores all religions and what God is to them and to you. It is fascinating, take a look.....

You see if you are closed minded then this may not be for you but if you believe like I do that all religions are woven together and all have a basis in one God then this is for you. I believe that our God, the Christian God we know from the Bible is the same God for all religions. I believe that each religion really broke off a piece a truth and formed their beliefs around that, so that ultimately we are all connected at the root. This series really shows that if you ask me, each week is a new topic.... Evil, Life after Death, Gods origin and it shows how people around the globe see those topics thru their religion and worship of God. It's so fascinating and I love learning and expanding my mind.... haha, I'm not as deep as that sounded!
Something this series also really highlights is Archeology and History. I have to ask you something.... What did you want to be growing up? I wanted to be and still want to be an Archeologist.  Stay with me here I am not switching subjects...... One thing about this show I love is being taken into the pyramids in Egypt to learn how they viewed God, following Morgan Freeman into a sacred Holy Temple in Jerusalem to see where Christianity started. It lights the fire inside of me that I had growing up for a love of Archeology. I also think that is where my love of the Paranormal started also. I love seeing an object or a place full of History, uncovering it and finding out why are spirits drawn to this place or thing? I love uncovering the past to find out how it effects today and that is no more prominent in anything than Religion.

If you haven't seen this show before you can catch up OnDemand, I think there are a few more weeks left in the series. I hope that maybe if you watch this it might spark something in you, maybe you will learn something about another religion or find the common thread in people.

Walker Stalker Con

The Walking Dead is on of our favorite shows and has been for 7 years, we are 2 OG's..... meaning we watched the premier on AMC, no bandwagon lovers in our house! ha! TWD is so huge that there is a conference for Zombie Lovers that includes our favorite stars from the show! When I saw it was coming to Denver I was so excited and I paid $50 a piece for our tickets! Here we are bright eyed and bushy tailed excited to see our favorite peeps........
 BUT..... here is the thang..... after you pay all that money to get in, that gets you NOTHING! If you want to meet, get an autograph or a picture with any of your favorite stars you need to have your pockets full of cash! $40 per autograph, $40 per picture and that is insane!!! And each line is about 50-100 people deep BUT I would have waited in if it was FREE!
Would I have loved to get a picture with Abraham?? YES but for $40? NO! We decided that if Rick or Daryl had been at the conference we would of paid for a picture with them only. I'm not gonna lie it was super disappointing. BUT...... I did get to play Michonne for a hot minute at the "Sword Booth".....
 And in case you were wondering Eugene's mullet is just as awesome in real life! But man, these celebrities must have banked all weekend with prices that high! We were able to walk around and take these second hand pictures of everyone and I was excited to still be able to see them especially one day before the finale! SO I don't regret going but unless you bring a ton of cash there is nothing for you to do other than stare.
Here is who all we saw.......
Some of the cast of Fear the Walking Dead
Freddie Cruger
AMC's comic book men
Eugene, Merle, Father Gabriel, Sasha, Sophia, Nicholas, Dwight, Abraham, Rosita, Tara, Noah, Morgan, Sam, Jesse, Aaron, Tyrese, Spencer, Axel, Eric, Francine

Anyhow, it was a fun Saturday for Matt and I but I would really think about how much you are willing to spend and that will be your level of fun to be had! wah wah

TV Tuesday?

This past month there have been a ton of new shows debuting and not just our old ones being back but all together new shows! And we all know how much I love my TV so today I thought I would share with you all my top 4! And don't fret you can catch up on all of these OnDemand, we are only about 4 episodes into each!

Matt and I both love all these shows but Billions is TOP dog for Matt! This show is about Wall Street/Hedge Fund BILLIONAIRES! This show is smart and it has a way of making you not sure exactly who the bad guy is.?! I love Damien Lewis since Homeland and he perfectly fits the role of Charming Billionaire perfectly! You guys need to watch this! And ya, it's Showtime so this isn't for the kiddos!

Next up I have to say I can't believe I am watching a show on MTV or that we, Matt and I both are in love with a show on MTV! I had to look up what channel it was on my TV, ha! This show is Lord of the Rings meets hot teens... for real and we love it! This is based on bestselling fantasy books and it really is something to watch!

I thought that the WGN network only showed old Andy Griffin shows but man was I wrong! I actually saw the trailer for Outsiders in the movie theater before a movie and it looked awesome. Plus it is bringing back a favorite of mine from Sons of Anarchy! This show is set in the Appalachia and the "feral" families who live in the mountains and it is SO GOOD! We have also seen a trailer for another show on WGN called Underground set to premier next month about the underground railroad and we can't wait!

Lastly is a show I wanted to hate, I mean JLo really? JLo trying to be tough..... but we couldn't hate it, instead we love it! This show about crooked cops, the FBI and family is great.  We look forward to this show eat week and JLo is really good. So forgive me for not trusting in you! ha!

What new shows are you loving???

Born This Way

I have to talk about this show on A&E Born This Way and no, it has nothing to do with Lady Gaga! Born This Way was a 6 part series and you can watch them all OnDemand and I DEMAND you do! Before I get ahead of myself here is a little about the show....

I have to encourage you to watch this for many reasons the first being just to open our eyes and expand our knowledge of people living with Down Syndrome. The whole theme of this show is "Don't Limit Me" and this show will really show you so much and speaks so true to that motto.
Another reason to watch this show and actually the main reason I love this show is the parents. Each of one the people featured on the show have their parents on the show as well and I have never seen such love on a reality TV show before. This group of parents are the most loving, kind, generous and honest group of people I have ever seen. Really you guys, the way they live their lives so full of love and hope really touched me. This show is about GOOD people, really GOOD people and we don't always see that on TV and it is such a breath of fresh air. SO friends, get OnDemand and watch this series.... you will be so glad you did.

Dear #RHOBH

Dear Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,

I can barely stomach to watch you this season, your comments on Yolanda's illness are sickening and flat out wrong. (I'm talking to you Lisa Rinna) Lyme Disease is in all accounts an "Invisible Illness" much like Chronic Migraines which I suffer from. Let's talk about a few of the "issues" you Beverly Hills women have with Yolanda:

* You all say "She looks fine".....
And Yolanda is exactly right when she says she looks great on the outside but on the inside she is suffering greatly. Its is the same with me, I may look perfectly fine on the outside and at the same time I could be battling a huge migraine inside. Life goes on and you have to learn when you can suffer and when you can not.

* Secondly, you say "One minute it's a happy selfie and the other it's a sick selfie, I don't get it"...
That is right, you DON'T GET IT! When battling a chronic illness you can have days of good and why not celebrate them? You get sick for spells and then can feel good for a period, so I am sorry if her "good Days" are confusing you. On my good days I try to catch up on things I have missed and do something enjoyable for myself too.

* You all don't understand "all her extreme treatments"....
If I had the money Yolanda has I would try anything I could to get rid of my migraines too. When you are sick and at the end of your rope you will literally try anything, anything. And that is what Yolanda is in a position to do, it isn't weird.... it's brave.

You see when I first got diagnosed with Migraines in my early 20s I lost friends too, long long standing friends who didn't understand why I had to cancel so much on plans. I looked fine from the outside but inside my head during a migraine I am dying. For some reason that really bothers people. What Yolanda is going thru is a version of what I have been thru.... People do not understand and if she had a broken leg you could see.... people wouldn't question it. It's so tough when you are battling an illness with no cure and your friends start dropping off and to be honest I still have a friend that did this that hurts. I missed her engagement party and she literally NEVER forgave me for having a migraine that night. I also couldn't travel for her wedding due to migraines and she has not spoken to me since even though I went to her reception she had locally. A friend I had for over 15 years. People can be so cruel.

Yolanda, you keep doing what your doing.... fighting strong and enjoying your pain free days. You don't need these women in your life. And I get it... she chooses to go thru this on reality TV but she is speaking for so many people battling Lyme and other "invisible" illnesses, she is trying to put a face to what so many people go thru on a daily basis. And I love her for it.

Entertain ME

An unforgettable story about true love, real life, and second chances…
Rachel Blum and Andy Landis are just eight years old when they meet one night in an ER waiting room. Born with a congenital heart defect, Rachel is a veteran of hospitals, and she’s intrigued by the boy who shows up alone with a broken arm. He tells her his name. She tells him a story. After Andy’s taken back to a doctor and Rachel’s sent back to her bed, they think they’ll never see each other again.
Rachel grows up in an affluent Florida suburb, the popular and protected daughter of two doting parents. Andy grows up poor in Philadelphia with a single mom and a rare talent for running.
Yet, over the next three decades, Andy and Rachel will meet again and again—linked by chance, history, and the memory of the first time they met, a night that changed the course of both of their lives.
A sweeping, warmhearted, and intimate tale, Who Do You Love is an extraordinary novel about the passage of time, the way people change and change each other, and how the measure of a life is who you love
I LOVED Who Do You Love, this was an easy read that always had me on my toes. This is a book about love and about the reality of love... and at times you will be disappointed by both leads. You will spend most of the book begging them to get back on the right path again. I just loved this book, it was a great read!

SO far out of ALL the new TV shows Blindspot has me hooked the most! Don't get me wrong I am loving The Bastard Executioner, Homeland is back and last night debuted American Horror Story but Blindspot has really pulled us in. You should really find it OnDemand and catch up if you can, it is fast paced, full of action and each week they unveil a new clue to real you back in for the next week! Way to go NBC!
 Here is the trailer for Blindspot if you don't know what it is.....

Ever since I first saw the trailer for Sicario I was excited, this sounds so weird but I am into the whole cartel stuff. I just finished the Netflix series Narcos which I LOVED loved!!! SO this was added to my must see list, not to mention all the glowing reviews it was getting. BUT, Matt and I were both disappointed. I felt like I was watching an episode of True Detective in that they want you to be completely confused. Then after watching for over 2 hours, it ends and you are not sure why or what just happened. Emily Blunt is incredible and I liked all the actors but this is a renter. Here is the jest.... The add Emily's character to a task force NEVER telling her why, they track the cartel in Mexico, are they who they say they are, they kill people, the end. Wah Wah!
I saved the BEST for last, I knew this would be good... I read the book and even with small changes this is a GREAT movie. It's crazy how this movie is so realistic you feel like you are watching a true story... I had to remind myself that we in fact have not landed on Mars or left a man there. SO, I think that is a sign of a great movie. This is a smart movie, you will leave the theater thinking.... what would it be like to be so smart? Matt Damon is incredible, surprisingly funny and relatable. This is a must see at the theater! DO IT!

If you are a nerd like me then going to Comic Con is like #1 on your Bucket List! But until that day comes I will continue to stalk it online and spend hours watching the trailers that debuted during the convention! This year so many trailers debuted for TV and Movies and it BLEW my mind!!!!! Yes, I am that kind of person.... when I see a trailer for a new show or movie I want to see I am beyond GIDDY! I absolutely LOVE the feeling of getting excited and looking forward to the premier!
Lucky you.... I have watched it ALL and I am going to show you my favorites from the weekend!

* Fear The Walking Dead!!!

* The Walking Dead!
I mean best show on TV and this Trailer for the new season is UNREAL!!!!!

* The Suicide Squad
I didn't really know much about this, the comic books or the story I just knew about ALL the stars in the movie! THEN..... the trailer debuted this weekend during the panel and I am fully on board with this and counting down the days!

* Batman vs Superman
I am still a little unclear on why they would be on different sides and the first trailer left me wanting but then this trailer debuted and yup, I'm excited!!
