Five for Friday

Hi Guys! TGIF!!! It has been awhile since I did a Five for Friday post, too long!!! I have an exciting one today......yesterday was the start of the Oklahoma State Fair! I am not sure how "big" the fair is in other states but here everyone goes for various reasons! So.....today I am going to tell you 5 reasons I go...(In no particular order)
 1. People watching!
Ok, first off this is an actual picture of 2 people at the Oklahoma fair ( I swear it).....and I am not in any means making fun so please don't hit me hate mail. BUT, with that being said our state fair is literally the creme de la creme of people watching! I dare you to say you don't do the same thing!
 2. Indian Tacos!
I love getting an Indian Taco! I will wait in a long line for this baby....
 3. Jug-O-Root-Beer!
My favorite thing to do as soon as we walk in is to get my very own jug of Root Beer! Love it!
 4. Baby Animals!
I love going thru the livestock barns and seeing all the animals! Go figure, huh?
 5. Lastly.......
A ooey gooey cinnamon roll is a must! Yumm yumm, and yes! I will eat one for you whenever I go!
So do you go to the Fair? What do you look forward to?

Five for Friday

Lets talk SUMMER today since this is the first "official" week of summer!!! There has to be some movies growing up that just SCREAM summer to you and after much thought I think I found my Top 5!!!!
* Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter is Dead!
I loved and still love this movie, I can picture myself now laying on my parents couch watching this movie over summer break! Didn't we all want a summer with no parents?
 * Top Gun
Volleyball. Scene.enough.said.
 * My Father My Hero
Long before she was Izzie on Grey's Anatomy I already loved Katherine Heigel when she pretended her dad was her lover on vacation! Love this movie! It was so silly but so cute!
 * Sandlot
This is not just a summer classic but a classic all around.........Wendy Peffercorn is still the girl I am sure all little boys dreams are made up of!!!!! I love this movie I think it is timeless! Do kids still play like this anymore?
 * Dirty Dancing
Was it just me or did we all want to go away to a rich summer camp, fall in love and dance our hearts out? Swoon......
What are some movies that remind you of your summers when you were a kid?
Ps.....TGIF!

Five for Friday

SO on this Five for Friday I am taking another page from my friend Becky's Blog......she is taking this wonderful Five for Friday journey with me! This is all about how far have you been............
1. The Farthest North you have been.......
About 20 years ago my family and I took a trip north and the Mall of America in Minneapolis and that is the farthest north I have ever been. I would love to go to NYC someday!
 2. Farthest South....
My second year in college me and my pledge sisters went to Acapulco for Spring Break!! And I spent most of that vacation in the bathroom with food poisoning.....do not eat "street food" after a booze cruise in Mexico. Just because they said it was a burger..........
 3. Farthest West...
2 years ago Matt was chosen as one of the Top 10% of Farmers Agents in the US and we got to go to Toppers Club in Monterey, CA! It was like a dream.......
4. Farthest East.....
Months after Matt and I started dating he took me with him to Charlotte for his baseball reunion weekend. He played in college in case you didn't know! Let's just say the weekend didn't go as planned but I didn't dump him.... we worked out despite him being the worst host ever! LOL!!
 5. Farthest away from home you have lived.....
Well guys, NOT far...the farthest was my sorority house in Norman which is only 20 minutes from my parents house.
That was fun.......Your turn!
PS.............
The Funeral is set for Monday at 10am.
I am off for the weekend on my JH Club Board of Directors Retreat! Hope I can focus and be as production as I normally would!

Five for Friday

Today I am copying my friend Becky at Becky's Babbles...........my Top 5 Guilty Pleasures......
A guilty pleasure is something one enjoys and considers pleasurable despite feeling guilt for enjoying it. The "guilt" involved is sometimes simply fear of others discovering one's lowbrow or otherwise embarrassing tastes. Fashion, video games, music, movies, and junk food can be examples of guilty pleasures....
1. Bravo
I love all things on Bravo........ALL the Real Housewives, Top Chef and my new favorite show Million Dollar Decorators! It is reality TV for grown ups....MTV who?!
 2. E! News
I love E News and all things celebrity gossip related! I love knowing the latest dish and getting all my details every night from my most reliable source.......E! News! ha
 3. Magazines!!!
Ok, you may know that I have a problem.....I literally run to the mailbox everyday in hopes that when I open it there will be a new magazine! And just how many do I get a month??? Try 13.......everything from People to the Food Network Magazine! I love them!
 4. Twilight!
Yes yes I am a lover of all things Twilight!! No I do not own memorabilia nor do I have a room dedicated to Edward but I am literally counting down the days until Breaking Dawn part 1 comes out on November 18!!! NOTE!! This Sunday on the MTV Movie Awards there will be a HUGE sneak peak....don't miss it!
 5. Cake!
Lastly......Cake and I am not too picky I love Cake, cupcakes, cake pops pretty much any kinda of cake! It literally is my crack! I love love love cake!
What are your guilty pleasures?

3. I am so excited to see Curtis and would you know that this is the FIRST family vacation we have all taken in probable over 20 years. It's True!
4. I am not a fan of flying so keep me in your thoughts....because I swear I can get motion sickness at the drop of a hat!

Five for Friday

So for this Friday's addition of Five for Friday I am calling it 5 things about last night.............

1. Last night was May Giveaway which is the end of the year banquet for Junior Hospitality. We had the banquet at a local country club and everything turned out perfectly!
 2. The main reason we celebrate is because last night we gave away out grant money for the 2010-2011 year to The Bethel Foundation. Below is me, Lynda the director of the Bethel Foundation and our president Jen. Last night also concluded my 2 year run as Community Outreach director so getting speak on behalf our group and present the grant money was so special for me! And the money we gave the Bethel Foundation is going to help them purchase 2 commercial freezers.
 3. Each year at May Giveaway we can all invite a friend who is wanting to join JH in the fall. My friend Lindsay from work wants to join so she was gladly my plus 1! It is neat to invite new people to see us present out grant and really see the main reason why JH exists!
 4. 2 years ago Becky was my plus 1 and fast forward to last night.....she was sworn in as a member of the board. I love that she loves it as much as I do.
 5. This is Jennifer and I presented her with an award.....she participated in the most service drives this last year. Jennifer was sworn in as an official member last night and we are all excited to see what she will bring to the group. Wondering what my position is for the upcoming year? I will be our Provisional Director.....which essentially means I am in charge of all the new girls a/k/a our Provisionals. I will guide them, educate them and be their liaison in the club.....and I am looking forward to it.
SO that was my last night what was yours?

Five for Friday

Do you ever feel like there is so much to do? I seem to feel like there is always something that needs to be done or should of been done yesterday. If you are crazy like me you will obsess over these silly lists and dwell on the "to-dos".  And let me preface by saying I know that everyone with kids feels like 10xs more, so I understand that. The minute I clean out the pantry I notice a junk drawer...it never ends! So today I will list out 5 of my top To-Dos......................

1. Organize all my Scentsy and move the bars in from the garage since they melt at such a low temp, I don't want to ruin like $150 in Scentsy Bars!

2. Clean out my Linen Closet and organize my nail polish stock pile. I know that sounds silly but every time I want to do my nails I can barely find anything in my overly junky shelf loaded with polish new and old.

3. Clean and organize my home office which will make working from home easier and more relaxing.

4. Organize my life and give myself a schedule..... when you work from home you can look around and realize you have even more to do than you thought. I want to give myself a daily schedule and I am desperate to make myself start to be more active. I need to schedule in time to walk, you have to start somewhere.

5. Work in the yard and clean up our patio!!

What do you need to get done? You obsess over lists and dwell on what needs to be done or does the cheese stand alone?

Five for Friday

Today is a very special 5 for Friday.....Earth Day Addition! Today I will be sharing 5 ways I will pledge to celebrate Earth Day whether it will be bringing awareness or small actions that I will try to start implementing in my life! I will also be sharing 5 things YOU can do on this Earth Day!
To me Earth Day is not about "tree hugging/must go green/recycling like crazy" to be honest I do not even recycle! Earth Day to me is special because I think it is more about awareness and conservation. Earth day is about realizing we are not the only species living on this planet and we need to protect and conserve our Earth for all things. It is what you want it to be.....
5 Ways I will celebrate and continue to do for Earth Day!
1. Zoo Story by Thomas French
I think constantly learning about the world we live in is important and it opens my heart more all the time. Zoo story is a behind the scenes book/documentary on Zoo life in Tampa. I got a lot more out of this book than I originally thought I would in a surprising way. I struggle with my thoughts on zoos and animals living in captivity but this book presents both sides so well I really think you should read it. This book teaches about conservation, preservation and how zoos fit into that mix. This book also tells you how animals really come to live at a zoo and how their lives are from then on. I really think you should read this book and educate yourself on both sides. I will say I feel a little bit better on "zoos" in general but my conclusion is still up in the air!
 2. I will continue to support the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Nairobi, Africa!
Below the smallest elephant is my Naipoki.....the elephant I "adopted" at Christmas. She is flourishing at the foundation and has been given a second chance at life after her mother was killed by poachers. Eventually she will be reintroduced into the wild....what a beautiful thing. To learn more click HERE
3. Global Awareness
I am so thankful for shows like Oprah because did you know that it was 2 years ago today that on a Earth Day special Oprah introduced us to the documentary The Cove and my life was changed. I mean how else would we be aware of such.....whats the word I want to use?......global problems? I am so thankful for Oprah using her platform to introduce us to such issues and then to tell us how we can help....whether big or small.
4. Rescue!
I am going to continue rescuing animals and being a champion to the cause because they can't do it themselves. I mean I can only do so much but I have to realize that each time I rescue 1 animal I am saving it and I am glad to help!
 5. Going Green
I am awful at this, I really should use that blue recycling bin on the side of my house! I mean we all have to start somewhere small! You should take this quiz on the Oprah site to see how much you know about going green! Click HERE to take the quiz and it's ok, I did awful too!
NOW! 5 Things YOU can do or start doing today to celebrate Earth Day!
1. When you or someone you know is planning on bringing an animal into their lives.....use Pet Finder! You can visit the site by clicking HERE! You can also go to your local shelter or adopt from me....I will find you an animal! HA

2. Learn more about the Taiji Dolphins and see what you can do.....like buy a shirt, pledge money or spread the word on your own blog! Click HERE

3. Meatless Monday
Once a week, plan a meat alternative for dinner. Enjoy pasta with a marinara or Alfredo sauce, meatless chili burritos, or even grilled veggie burgers! Reducing meat consumption conserves fresh water, saves topsoil, and even reduces air pollution!

4.Try to start Recycling with me and reduce plastic use!
Did you know that there is a place in the Ocean called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch? All our unused plastic goes somewhere and sadly there is a mile long patch in the ocean covered with our garbage. To learn more and see what you can do please click HERE!

5. Lastly, do a Five for Friday today about Earth day........what you are doing, things you will pledge to do etc! Be sure to link up below.......insert your blog below so we can all share with one another!
Happy Earth Day Friends!!!!!
