Here's Johnny...

The Stanley Hotel Tours Video from The Stanley Hotel on Vimeo.

So when my Mom was here we wanted to do one thing just for US during the week of moving Hell......so we knocked off a HUGE item on our bucket lists and we went to The Stanley Hotel!!!! And.....we took the historical/paranormal tour...... we were so giddy, it was the perfect day! The drive thru Boulder to Estes Park was stunning, we really got the Colorado experience and that is JUST what I needed! I haven't seen the mountains or really been any place like this since High School so I LOVED taking it all in!
I will say that 60 miles via Mountain miles is about 2 1/2 hours which we learned that day! hahaha! Hey, now we know!
We have ARRIVED!!!!!!!! Honestly it was smaller in person than it is on TV but the energy you feel here is NO joke.....even Mom mentioned to me that the entire time of the tour she felt off, like she could feel something different around her.....and she never says things like that!
Mom and I also learned that it is much colder in the mountains than it was in Denver.....Brrrr! #thingsihavelearnedsince

Not only did we love learning about the Paranormal history of the Stanley but just the History of the hotel itself is amazing, I just love learning and actually being somewhere filled with so much history, emotions and stories!
Here is the very very short version of Stephan King......
On the night before The Stanley was to be closed for Winter, Mr.King and his family stopped in to stay the night in Room 217. During his stay there he had such incredible paranormal experiences as well as horrible nightmares involving his family and the hotel that inspired him to immediately right The Shining based on his stay.
This is THE Room 217 and you would NOT believe...... house keeping was cleaning the room when our tour went by so we GOT TO GO INSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!
Here it is folks........this is the room that SciFi's The Ghost Hunters stayed in and caught EVP's, Doors opening as well as a glass shattering on it's own.
The movie Dumb and Dumber was also shot here at the Hotel and the hotel tour guide said that Jim Carrey lasted 1 night at the hotel before leaving and refused to come back inside except to shoot the movie.
The Hallway that inspired The creepy twin scene............ I mean really, could this look any creepier?

You see it??? (little hotel fun below)
We also got to go to the basement of the Hotel and the hotel itself is built on top of huge granite and quartz stone formations which has been proven to hold energy which can increase the chance of the hauntings here....it was really neat to see!
Don't worry Becky's we are going BACK!!!!!!!!!!!
Check out this view..........

Mom and I got Matt a souvenir!
Mom had the best time and she couldn't believe we actually got to go and take it all in!

Let me start by saying that IF you don't like paranormal things and IF you don't have any idea who these people are then this post isn't for you. You won't understand why this is soooo amazing!

Christmas come early for me.... You all know the Paranormal is a hobby of mine and Matt and I were lucky enough to do the over night ghost hunt at Mansfield this past summer. So...I get emails about Paranormal events but who can pay to travel to the event and the event fee? Well, not I!! So when last week I saw this email about the event at The Mansfield Reformatory a little over 1 hour from my house...I clicked on the link....to find..... a DREAM roster of people who will be there! I have books written by 3 of the people above and I watch ALL their shows! I mean a reading with Chip Coffey? Holy moly he has worked with everyone and been on every show including his own on A&E. John Zaffis is related to Lorraine Warren and he has a Paranormal Museum that it too die for. (Odd phrase...ha) And Josh Gates!! I love him..... Steve Gonzales the ORIGINAL! From the first paranormal show on TV the original Ghost Hunters on SyFy!!

The Conjuring

This past weekend Matt and I went to see The Conjuring, I have been wanting to see this for sometime!  It's true, I don't watch Horror movies but that is because of the torture and gore NOT because I get too scared! So movies about hauntings are right up my "Haunted Hobby" alley! This movie is true and is based on Ed and Loraine Warren case files. And yes, I do believe and I believe this story is based on truth. It's what I think.......I could go on and on about them, since I am interested in haunted things....but I will spare you. You can check out the Warrens actual website HERE!
I have actually read one of the books written by the Warrens so some of this movie was familiar to me, I loved seeing how this movie was really true to who the Warrens are! I will tell you the book I read but don't judge me...the name is a tad shocking.....but I wanted to read about their lives so I read THIS book!

Both Matt and I really enjoyed this movie, it had the perfect amount of scares! It was hard for the movie to really divulge too much of the back story since the movie was only 2 hours! ha! I jumped, I enjoyed and I was scared. This movie is great, here is the trailer.........

To learn more about the real Perron family you can read this article HERE. And this family member also wrote a book about what her and her family had to endure once moving into this awful farm house. You can check out this book HERE!
Happy Haunted Thursday! hahaha....yes, I am aware that my hobby is weird.

THE Ohio State Reformatory

Last Saturday night Matt and traveled about 1 hour 20minutes NE of Columbus to Mansfield to tour the Ohio State Reformatory also known as the Mansfield Reformatory.
It is beyond amazing to know that this building which was built in 1886 is so full of history. Just that fact alone without the hauntings is incredible. (if you like this sort of thing) OSR does over night ghost hunts and they sell out for the year in March usually, its very popular. So when I won 2 tickets on FB I was ecstatic! Matt went with me and even he had a great time. But I will definitely take friends and family back to experience what we did.
There is a museum set up inside which houses incredible artifacts including this......the actual electric chair. 315 prisoners were electrocuted in this chair. I know that sounds so morbid to say and show it all to you but it is what it is. It's my "freak flag" if you will.
In the museum they also had records on display .......
As well as the original log book that housed all the inmates records! It is just something so neat to be in that I can't explain about how it feels to be surrounded by all this history and energy.
Finally Matt and I got someone to take a picture of us.....you see Rod Stewart in the back? HA! There were about 70 people in the prison with us but with over 1,000 cells and 4 wings it was very easy to imagine you were the only one here. (Did I mention it was hot? yes, too hot)
This is the door to solitary with no windows and completely pitch black cells that would at times house more than one inmate per cell for as long as a year. This is the place people report the most activity and this is also where Ghost Adventures had the majority of their evidence captures. While Matt and I were alone, I went into a cell by myself....this was the only place I felt "watched" This was the only place I felt very creeped out and would not have stayed alone.
I mean look at this place.....the 3 story cell blocks were literally left as i...s. Dilapidated cells, old books, mattresses and even old letters can be found in the cells. And when you do the ghost hunt you can go ANYWHERE! It was amazing!
These are 2 pictures I took during the tour before lights went out! I mean there isn't very many words to describe this place and it is so hard to picture it in your head filled with inmates.
If you have seen Shawshank Redemption then you will recognize this below. The movie filled in this prison and this was the room they used as the "Half way house" in the movie. It was so cool walking around this place and seeing the movie play out in your head.
This was part of the original Wardens apartment also located on the property. At night around 1am when Matt and I were in here I actually felt more creeped out in this part of the building than I did on the cell blocks

Matt and I accidentally found this around 11pm....the safe in the Wardens office where Andy locked up the ledger every night in Shawshank.

I mean look at this place.....these pictures were taken with my flash on the camera because without that or our flashlight it was pitch black.

We sadly did not have any paranormal experiences to share with you but that didn't mean that this wasn't worth it. I can't wait to go back. To learn more about this place click HERE!

The Jury Room

Do you all watch the Dead Files on Travel Channel? I do and I LOVE it! It is about a medium and a former cop who investigate haunted locations....you have to watch it and you can learn more by clicking HERE
Back in December they filmed at a location here in Columbus....so what did Becky and I do?? We became haunted tourists thats what! Long story short....this place opened in 1831 and some of the decor is from the original restaurant. It was also home to a bordello and a murder or two.....
Here is a recap I got from Travel Channel on what Amy found out during her investigation.....

We didn't eat lunch here but next time I think we will.....the owners were really nice to us after we told them we are "lookie-loos". Just look at this place, it was like being transported in time. Very cool.

And yes, I am sure the people actually there eating lunch thought we were crazy people....I am lucky Becky shares my love of weird/haunted places!
After the Jury Room we went to The Book Loft in German Village, here is a little bit about it...
One of the nation's largest independent book stores, The Book Loft of German Village, is located at 631 South Third Street in Columbus, Ohio, just a few blocks South of the state capitol building. The pre-Civil War era buildings that once were general stores, a saloon and a nickelodeon cinema, now are home to 32 rooms of Bargain Book
Ya, this place was beyond amazing and they even host authors we found out so we were able to buy autographed books! It is like a maze in the book store with some rooms no bigger than a closet and I would be shocked if it wasn't haunted.
