Breck or Bust!

Last week Matt and I went to Breckenridge for a few days for a Farmers Insurance promotion! My husband and 7 of the other District Managers took care of this for the qualifiers and there were 300 people in attendance! Thursday Matt and I took the 2 hour drive up to the high country and stopped for a fun picnic lunch in Georgetown on the way!
You know people love Colorado in the winter, as do I but I LOVE it in the Summer! Everything just comes alive and is so lush and pretty!
I have never been to Breck before and the stream running down main street is just so charming! Matt golfed with the guys (typical) and I did a little shopping and relaxing.
Our room was at Beaver Run and was a 2 story cabin thing and this was our view... not bad! Those clouds look fake they are so perfect!
Thursday night we went to have a nice dinner at Hearthstone one of the best restaurants in Breck and it did NOT disappoint! It was housed in a 100 year old Victorian home, I just loved it!
Ha, the sun was SOO bright I couldn't look up at Matt while he took the pic, I swear! But this was my night out look via Anthropologie and I thought it was the perfect "mountain" look! And I felt so good I got so many compliments from nice strangers!
I also got to spend a little time at the Beaver Run spa and relaxed with a massage! And this huge salt water hot tub was great.... I stayed in so long I got pruney!
Friday night was the BIG Farmers Family BBQ and I got to play photog! I felt so professional, I took around 200 pics of the events and the families attending...... luckily we got one of the two of us!
Matt had a great time, these guys really out did theirselves! And the setting, the weather was all just perfect!

Seven Falls

I am going to let todays pictures speak for themselves mostly... Saturday we all took a day trip to Colorado Springs where we toured the Garden of the Gods, saw the United States Air Force Academy, visited the Broadmoor and toured Seven Falls also known as the "Most Glorious Mile in ALL of Colorado"... really it is, look it up! We all had a wonderful day and when we got home we had the most wonderful sunset waiting for us over my house!
Enjoy...

Family Visit Part 1!

Labor Day weekend is always something I look forward to since we moved away from Oklahoma because it means my family is coming to see ME!!!!!! YAY! We had a great 3 days with everyone and of course I filled it with good fun and great food!!!
And the animals are always excited to see everyone too..... Oscar loves his Auntie Marissa!
This is a great picture of my Mom and Sister huh? And that yellow door isn't too shabby either! haha!

Friday we did a little Guys and Girls day and the guys spent the day on the Golf Course, Matt is really excited that Marissa's fiance Ryan loves playing golf as much as he does!
And while the guys golfed the girls shopped..............
My Dad's Birthday is always the weekend before Labor Day so we always have a belated celebration when they are here and this year instead of going out we broke in my new dining room! We also gave Dad his new Birthday presents.... a new tradition of a Broncos weekend! Matt and I are taking Mom and Dad to the Broncos vs Chiefs game in November and we all can't wait!
We were so exhausted each day we had movie night at home every night and the dogs loved dessert time..... this is what happens when you are the last person to finish........
We took a little detour one day to the Broncos Training Facility at Dove Valley which was fun and who knew.... it is so close to my house!
And keeping with the sports themed weekend we went to take in an afternoon Rockies game!

It was perfect weather to cheer on the home team followed by dinner out in Denver!

Stay tuned tomorrow for our Day Trip to Colorado Springs with the family!!!!!!!

AMANDA!

So this past weekend we had a great last minute surprise..... AMANDA was in town to see us! If you don't know her we met in College, we are Tri Delt Sisters, Roommates and we were each others Maids-of-honor! This is the definition of a relationship that stays constant even when we rarely get a chance to talk these days! Blessed to have this girl in my life and it makes me even happier that her and Matt also love each other!
Anyhoo.....
Friday was girls day out.... shopping, pedis and then we hit the town! I took her to this amazing new place downtown Milk and Honey and we loved it!
Then Amanda took me to see The Book of Mormon at the Opera House downtown! And I was worried that I have heard so many good things about it that it wouldn't live up to the hype.... and well... IT DID! Holy crap it was so good and literally a laugh out loud musical! But let me preface that with saying it is HIGHLY offensive!
Saturday the three of us took a road trip to Pueblo, Co for the Colorado State Fair! This was the reason Amanda was in town! Amanda is a "BIG shot" at the Tulsa State Fair and she needed to check out some things here.... so we helped her explore!
And by explore I mean.... eat our way thru the fair! haha!
SO I do NOT ride rides but Matt and Amanda got me on one....... I swear it looked slow and easy from where I stood until I was on it! This was not staged Amanda and Matt laughed at me the whole time and documented my torment! LOL!!
Ok, let me get something off my chest about the next 2 pictures..... I am drawn to animals. You know that. Yes, the picture below I literally kissed a baby cow (or 2). I petted every animal I could see, talked to them, hugged them and loved them all over. BUT I was conflicted the whole time. And in fact ask Amanda and Matt... I cried for a good 15 minutes in the middle of the fair.
Why? Because the babies where not with their mother, I worried about their well being. They must have been overwhelmed being manhandled so much and like the goat picture below... I contributed to it. It broke me. Are these animals happy? And here I was using them for hugs and kisses. I know they would have preferred to be on the farm with their family roaming free without thousands of people touching them.
I wasn't going to post these pictures, but my intentions were pure. I really really loved these two babies but it is haunting me.
I don't know... I mean these are show animals who are treated well, I get that but it is so much deeper than that for me. This baby goat was so calm and happy in my arms when I loved on it and told it how much I loved it... but I regret it.
Silly me huh?
I don't mean to be a Debbie-downer but that was my truth.
SWITCHING gears......
We literally had the best time with Amanda here and were so sad to see her go. xoxox

Summer Fun

My Brother and Sister-in-law finally got to come to Denver and even though it was a few days after our big move it forced me to stop and have some fun! Who doesn't love fun? ha! They got in super early in the morning which was perfect for the first stop.... Snooze at Union Station! Not only is this breakfast place "the" place to take your out-of-towners......but it's awesome!
I took the nice camera with me that morning and played photographer.... I don't know why but I really love this picture!
Next up I took them to Red Rocks which to be honest Jordan wasn't super excited about but I knew she would like it and she DID! They were setting up for Sam Smith while we were there and it is always fun touring the museum and really getting a feel for how EPIC Red Rocks is!
Curtis and Jordan went to see his friend Aaron in Fort Collins a little during the middle of the week and we all met up at one of my favorite places... The Alamo Drafthouse to have dinner and see Mission Impossible..... we all had the best time!
Saturday I call White Water Rafting re-do.... because this Summer Matt didn't get to go so I wanted him to experience how much fun I had and Curtis and Jordan were game too!
It was towards the end of the rafting season so the water was really low but we still had a ball!
After rafting we took our grubby selfs to Cart-Driver.... the hottest place in Denver for Oysters, Pizza and Prosecco on tap and I knew they would love it as much as I did!! Cheers!
Saturday night we all got gussied up and headed to the Cherry Creek Food and Wine Festival, Matt and I went last year and had the best time!
How great is this picture?
Jordan and I didn't plan on matching! ha! You know I love a good front door photo shoot... but guess what?? That door is now YELLOW!!!!!!!
Cheers to great food, great company and drinks!
SO.... I am obsessed with Top Chef, it is my favorite show and the Chefs are Gods to me and look who I met..... Gregory the runner-up from the most recent season in Boston!! OMG, look at my face I totally fan-girled ALL over him and his dish won Best in Show!! He told us that he is opening Departure Cherry Creek this Spring!! I cannot wait!
Sunday it was Girls vs Boys..... The boys went golfing to this amazing #1 course in Denver......
And us girls had High Tea at The Brown Palace .... it was a surprise I planned for Jordan and she loved it! You know me..... making others happy is selfish... because it makes me so happy!

We really had a wonderful time and look forward to them coming back again and they loved the new house too!!! And of course the animals LOVED getting extra attention for a week!
