Officially almost official!

So guess what guys? I DID IT! The day before we left to go home to Marissa's wedding I passed my National real estate broker exam! I pass the Colorado state test the week prior! I also interviewed with a few brokerages before heading home to give me some time to think things over!
When we got home last week I spoke to a few more places before deciding on one and I signed on the dotted line and WHAM it's almost official! The office is processing my state broker license so hopefully by the end of this week it will be officially official! Tomorrow I start my mentoring class at my new brokerage Realty One Premier which is based out of California. Its new, modern and fit what I was looking for! I will tell you all more after I go to some of these classes and get the word I am official! Then I will need help finding clients who are looking to buy or list their home! I am excited and scared. Starting a completely new career is scary even if it's good. That is what I always say. But for now I am proud of myself for doing the class online by myself and passing both tests.

Funny story... this weekend we got steaks and stuff to cook for my celebratory dinner but I am battling a sinus infection and feel awful. Well, last night I wound up cooking the meal and cleaning up the meal all while being sick.... so how was that a celebratory meal for me? I'm not sure but whatever! lol, men!

168 Hours

NO, I'm going to talk about that movie where James Franco sawed his arm off but taking 168 hours of school and 60 tests almost made me want to do that. It's not a shocking revelation that I don't like school and never have... I mean new school supplies, lunch, recess and extra curricular activities I love but that about covers it!
But..... As of yesterday I am OFFICIALLY done with Real Estate School! I am so proud of myself, it took me much longer than I wanted but life happens! I mean I really did it! And I even have a certificate to prove it! Sadly, this isn't the end of the line.... Tomorrow I will be spending all of my Saturday (Like 9 sucky hours) in a all day study cram session at the school. And then I need to really study up for the test! I hope to take my first try within the coming 10 days while it is fresh! (Good advice from my friend Rebecca)
Now, No... I am not ready....I'm not very good with tests I just pray I can narrow down everything I need to know and can somehow get that passing grade of 80% real soon!!! Then we can celebrate and contemplate "WHAT NOW"?? lol!

Real Estate School

I announced last Summer that I enrolled in Real Estate school and I did well for about a month but then we moved into our new home, we had house guests every month, we started our infertility treatments, Oscar got sick and the Holidays came... so I didn't take any classes. I also didn't talk about because I was disappointed in myself. January came and I knew that on several levels I needed to make changes..... my entire day circled around my infertility and things that had to be done regarding that,  I had no balance and no life. So at the end of January I committed to school again and around 4 days a week I take a class and then the test each morning.
Yes, you can see Miss Bella is enjoying learning about Real Estate as well. But this new routine has helped me... I thrive on routine. I am one of those people and when my routine is out of whack so am I! SO after breakfast I bring Oscar up to my room with me where he sleeps in my bed while I take a class. This has been great for both of us, really. This gives me a purpose again, gives me a routine and it gives Oscar something to look forward to everyday.... his "me" time in bed.
I took my mid-term a few weeks ago and I am on the second 1/2 of the course and I have until June 1. So my goal is to have all classes done by the end of April and then in May I can focus on studying and take my test. I wanted to update everyone which also helps keep me accountable and let you all know this is still my goal, it's just taking me a bit longer than I hoped to achieve it!

A New Chapter

I have BIG news friends and family!!! And let me say that this isn't something I decided over night or something I decided because of the insane real estate growth here in Denver (that helps) but instead this is something I have been toying with for over 4 years. What you ask is it?
I am officially enrolled in Colorado Real Estate School and I am going to become a Realtor.

In Oklahoma I worked as a Landman, working in Oil and Gas but dealing with land rights and land ownership then I also worked in a Real Estate office for a year as far some background is concerned. And those careers will help my resume when looking for a job and home as a Realtor.
When we left Oklahoma 3 years ago I sold the home myself in less than 4 weeks, executed all the paperwork, negotiations and made a profit on our starter home. Then last Spring I sold our Ohio home FSBO in under 3 weeks once again. And during closing the new owners said that they were blown away and I could have sold them a crap house and they would of bought it from me. They said I must become a Realtor.
Matt and I have discussed this on and off for years but now seemed right. Moving into our new home in a few weeks we need just a little more income coming in.... And I need something flexible due to my migraines and the fact that I will still be helping Matt at his office when I can. So I prayed on it, slept on it for a few weeks and made the LEAP! I picked Online Real Estate school since we have had a busy Summer, this way I have been taking the classes at home when I have time. I am about 1/3 into it and my goal is to finish and take the State test by the end of September.

Let me also say I have realistic goals, I am not committing myself to pounding pavement 10 hours a day, 7 days a week and dreams of making over 100k..... I don't want to set myself up for failure. I want to do this part time, sell maybe 2-3 homes a year and have this to always fall back on. I am also not saying it will be easy, but I really think this will be good for me and for our family! I do have a company in mind that I want to join and to get in I am hoping I can become an assistant for a year and then jump off on my own but we will see how everything works out.

I am excited and scared to start a new career and I absolutely refuse to have a cheesy headshot! lol! SO there it is friends, I said it out loud....it's Blog official!!! Wish me luck .........
