Outlander.....

 So...... about 2 years ago I picked up Outlander because everyone said I should. And maybe I wasn't in the mood for it or maybe it was hard to picture this new world in my head but either way I put the book down. Fast forward to 6 weeks ago when the Outlander series debuted on Starz and I am now officially in love.

 This past Saturday Claire and Jamie got married and it was swoon-worthy indeed!!!! After the wedding I am absolutely obsessed with their love story. I actually ran out Sunday to re-buy the book and last night I dove into it!! The mid-season finale of the show is this week and I cannot let go of it so I am well on my way into immersing myself into the series.

Have you watched it?? Read it?? If not you need to do both but check out the series, I just love it. I love the actors they are perfect and the setting is just stunning, I love being able to picture it all in my head.

Fall Football Dinner.....

How exciting is it that Fall officially starts on Monday?? Now if only the weather would get that memo we would be in good shape! Denver is in the 90s today and thanks but no thanks! Anyhoo....

I have a super yummy Fall recipe to share with you all today and I found this one in Food and Wine Magazine!

Fall Apple Cheddar Pretzel Dogs!

Need:

Pretzel Buns

2 Apples, butter, cinnamon and brown sugar

Cheddar

Hot dogs or brats (I used Bison dogs from Whole Foods)

 Slice your apples and in a skillet sauté them with a pad of butter, cinnamon and brown sugar. Cook them over Med-Low heat until soft....about 10-12 minutes!

 Grill your dogs...Matt was at work so I used my grill pan which worked awesome!

 Then build your dog......Pretzel buns, meat then top with cheese! Pop these babies under the broiler until your cheese is melted........
I think using a Smoked Cheddar or Gouda would also be amazing on this!

 Then add your apples and you are done! This dish is amazing, very weird but it worked perfectly! Perfect for a Fall day or a gourmet twist on Tailgating food!!!!!!

My Loves Lately.....

Hey guys..... we all made it thru the dreaded Monday didn't we? I swear I barely did......I have been battling a migraine now for the past 24 hours....typical me. But lets push that aside because I want to share with you all 3 things I am LOVING lately! A Book, A Movie and a TV show!!!

 I loved Big Little Lies, I loved the style it was written in where you know what happens at the end but the book is a puzzle to finding out who did it! This was the perfect Summer read with a little murder mixed into my Chick Lit! If you are looking for your end of Summer read then pick this one up!!!!

 SO I read this book last year and of course loved it but when the movie came out I was never able to go see it sadly. 2 weeks ago this movie came out OnDemand and since then I have watched this around 4 times! I absolutely fell in LOVE with this movie. This book was brought to life perfectly and the actors were brilliant. Ansel who plays Gus made me fall completely in love with him which really sets you up for an emotional break down at the end but I loved it. I loved everything about this movie and yes, even I....the girl who never cries in movies bawled my little eyes out in this one. But when the movie was over I wanted to hug it.....I wanted to immediately watch it again. I cannot say enough about this movie....you must watch this even if you haven't read the book. 5 stars!!!!!!!!!!!

Would you like to know how I have spent the last the past 85 hours of my life????? On my couch with Charlie Hunnam and the Sons. I will have to brag that even though this is kinda depressing I watched all 85 episodes to catch up to the final season last week in a little over 3 weeks. To say I loved this show is an understatement. And yes, I started it because I have a HUGE crush on Charlie Hunnam but I fell in love with the show and everyone in it. I am so sad that I fall in love and the final season started last week, typical! You guys..... I would never have thought I would love a show about a biker gang but boy do I ever! If you need a new netflix watch here it is! And ya, let me know when you are gaga for Jax!!!!!!

Be My Guest...

Today's post isn't too exciting but the last stop on the casa tour is our re-done guest room. I don't even have a picture of the before because it was 1/2 storage and 1/2 room! But the after is great! We moved everything that was in our Master for the last 7+ years into the guest room.

 We now have a  Queen in the guest room instead of a full which is nice and I wanted to make this room "homey" and tranquil for our guests! I got all the decor at either Target or Home Goods and we kept it simple and easy.

So that is everything Matt and I have been working on for the past 2 months and all that is left is some more work in our garage by moving things to storage so I can eventually fit my car in our garage! Parking on the street blows!

Dining Re-Do!

This was our eat-in kitchen when we first moved in, we didn't hang anything on the walls and I just worked with what we unpacked first. I have to tell you that this table was my first single purchase, my Mom and I picked this out when I was 22 for my apartment and it has been the focal point of meals for 11 years. But all good things come to an end. 

 We wanted to create more space and we were not sure that our Pottery Barn formal dining furniture would fit in this space but with some tweaking it worked......And this idea to switch out tables was actually Matt's idea....so kudos to him! And by removing the side table it opened the space more.

 This is my kitchen, it is much smaller than my Ohio home but it works for now and I love how open it is. I also LOVE the white quartz counter tops I must have them in my next home!

 I got all the new decor from Home Goods and when we removed our side table we lost our wine rack so I incorporated this fun crate into the table decor. I love how it is functional and darling! And yup, that is a wire apple.....why not?!!! I wanted the table linens to match the house but also work into Fall and I like how it turned out!

 I got the EAT light up marquee sign and arrow at Home Goods and I am obsessed with both!!!!! The "spoon" canvas Matt got for me as a surprise from Ikea and it may not fit in perfectly but it fit in perfectly with our budget! ($14) I also added 2 pillows to the chairs at the head of the table for a little luxurious feel....and the side of the table with no chairs is a bench! I love it!

When my family was here we were all able to sit at the same table and eat and I loved it, so when Matt's family comes back this will be a perfect fit also!

Loft Make-Over...

After Matt's family was here over the 4th of July both Matt and I realized that our guest situation wasn't working and we needed to do some changes to our little abode. This was the loft before...I love this big desk but the bigger the desk the more junk I pile on it....don't we all? This loft was just a space that was a catch all and we blew up a air mattress for a 2nd guest bed right here in the middle......not very homey.......

 SO here is the AFTER!!! NOW>.....Disclaimer....those shelves are entirely TOO high and I hate them but they came with the house and they are not ours to move....so I had to work with what we can. Also our budget was tight so thanks to Ikea and Target we not only have a 2nd comfortable guest bed but I still have a desk space.

 The Daybed bedding is not perfect but I got it on sale at Home Goods and it was in my price point so  I made it work and by adding the fun chevron chair to the desk it not only gives me a comfy space to blog but gives guests a place to sit and set their stuff on! The daybed was also a perfect fit because it is perfect for lounging during the day!

 The lamp we already had and the chandelier canvas was from........you guessed it... Home Goods! I just wanted something small to anchor my desk. It looks better in person....for some reason this picture makes it look so bare!

 This Ikea daybed not only has storage but it also pulls out into a full size bed!!! BAM! And yes, it only took like 4 hours to put together! #nightmare

So there we go........ I love that this space is much more put together and more inviting to having guests stay also!!!!

Master Make-Over

The picture above depicts the sad state our Master Bedroom was in about a month ago. When we originally moved into the Town Home we thought we were only staying less than a year but now that it seems to be longer I wanted to make this place a home. So you know me....if I get an idea it MUST be done!!! A few weeks ago I posted my inspiration board (below) for our Master Bedroom and today I finally took pictures of the final product!

I am really happy with how it turned out, I went from barely wanting to be in my bedroom to now I love spending time in there. In fact when my family was here Mom, Marissa and I laid in my bed and watched a movie and it was the best thing ever!

 I LOVE the silver Weenie Dog figure and the glass dome with the arrows, they both perfectly sum up things in our lives we love and both are from Pottery Barn. The "&" sign I got at Home Goods.....love that place!

 As you see we ended up getting a different bed instead of the one from West Elm on the board we really fell in love with this one from Ikea!! I loved how tall it was and how neutral it is so in the future it will always fit into any room and any color scheme.

 These chairs are Target of course and I actually put them together myself.....boom! ha! In the vase I decided to add some baseballs to the decorative "balls" to bring a little more of Matt into the room plus I LOVE personal touches.

 The bedding as well as the stunning Ikat prints over the bed are all from Pottery Barn. 3 prints probably would have worked best but our budget said 2!!!

 The new white dresser is also from Pottery Barn, I like how it gives our room a clean and classic feel....it is nice to get away from the dark wood we have always had!

 And here is the most special and important thing in the Master bedroom.... Isabella! The upstairs is her domain and she spends most of her days sunning herself in the master bedroom window seat we have for her! Bella is 12 and this bed is very tall so I got 2 blue cubes from Target that are not only storage for my books but act as a middle step for her to get up and off the bed! She approves!

There ya have it!!!!!!!!!! Over the next week I will be showing off each room since we did so much work over the last month!!!!

Fed Up

I saw a few articles written on this documentary over the Summer which peaked my interest and today it finally came out OnDemand! This was a very eye-opening and intriguing look at the way we eat....specifically the amount of sugar we consume. A in depth look into America's food crisis does make you think what world would/could our children as a society be raised in. Ya know? The odds are stacked against us but watching this, educating yourself is the first step to knowing better and doing better!

Red Rocks!

 On Monday before my family headed back to Okc we took them to Red Rocks, my sister was really excited to see it and I just wish there had been a concert to take to them too!

And yes, that is how we all felt when it was time for them to go home!!!!
