Lasting Lip Color & A Give Away!!!

You guys, TGIF!!! It's Friday, get excited AND I have a special post today..... an amazing makeup review plus a Give Away because my readers deserve it!!!!!

Unless you live under a rock or you are a male then you must have heard about Lipsense! It's ALL the rage, long lasting lip color in every shade imaginable. BUT... does it live up to the crazy hype on social media? I wanted to find out!

 A friend of mine sells it (well actually she is a rock star in the Lipsense world) she sent me a kit to try out and to share with you all! I was SO excited! She sent me Rhubarb which I immediately fell in love with, the perfect red with a hint of pink and I rocked it ALL day!
You start with clean lips, apply the color in a few layers and then you add the awesome gloss on top and literally like 8 hours (last pic) later I was still rocking the color while I made dinner for Matt and I! I HATE sticky glosses and this was anything but that.... I barely noticed I was wearing the lipstick and it didn't dry out my lips at all.... I mean yes, it can live up to the hype friends!

My Gentle Barn (Give Away!!!)

Ellie Laks founded The Gentle Barn in Tarzana in 1999; it was a dream of hers since she was seven years old. Animals were always very healing and nurturing to her as she faced the challenges of growing up, finding herself, fitting in, feeling understood, etc. She majored in special education and psychology, and with her special love of animals and children, The Gentle Barn was a perfect way of putting all her talents and passions into one.

Jay Weiner joined The Gentle Barn in 2002 as a volunteer, but fell in love with the place and the two joined forces to heal even more children and animals. Like Ellie, Jay also turned to animals for the support, love and nurturing he needed as a child.

The Gentle Barn started on a half-acre property in the middle of the San Fernando Valley, CA. In 2003 Ellie and Jay moved The Gentle Barn moved to a six-acre paradise in Santa Clarita, CA. The property is complete with large horse and cow pastures, a red and white barnyard for the smaller animals, an organic vegetable garden, lots of shade trees, and a panoramic view of gorgeous mountains. Our over one hundred and seventy rescued animals are safe and happy at The Gentle Barn, and there is plenty of room to welcome our visitors and the children we host.

The ultimate goal is to open Gentle Barn's across the country so that every animal and child can have a place of healing and safety and where they can be seen for the perfect beings that they are. Since its inception, The Gentle Barn has been home to hundreds of animals and host to over 400,000 people.

 This is one of those posts where my mind is all over the place! I have so much to say but don't know how.... are you with me? I fell in love with The Gentle Barn years ago thank to the Ellen Show and since I have donated and always keep a link on the left of this blog to their site. Recently their founder Ellie wrote a book (above) called My Gentle Barn and I finished it last night! This book spoke to me in so many ways.....
1. Amazement at all the good she and the barn has done
2. Guilt.... why can't I do more? Why am I not pounding more pavement for animals?
3. Sadness over the stories of each animal told
4. Love. Pure love.

I need to spread this message, pass this book that is so filled with love on to others!!! So I am going to Give Away my copy in hopes that when you are done you will then pass this copy on again!

Hi friends!!! Lets do a update on Oscar first..........

Oscar is doing good, it is very nerve-wracking around here but we are managing. One of the hardest things is keeping him in his "play pen" poor little guy doesn't realize his back legs don't work so he cries and cries to come hang out with us. It is so sad.....but doctors orders!!!

Guess what? Matt is out of town again and my MOM is HERE! Yippee, she is here to spend time with me and help me with Oscar's care! I will do my best to post everyday while she is here! 

My first order of business for her........I had Mom pick a number and choose the leopard Scentsy winner.................

Thankful for YOU!

On this Thankful Thursday I am thankful for a few things......

* Thankful that the surgeon said that Oscar can feel his back legs and has sensation in them.

* Thankful for my Mom for being my sounding board as she helped me make lists and plan for Oscar to come home.

* Thankful for all the kind thoughts and prayers.....keep them coming! This road is not going to be short.

* I am thankful for all my wonderful blog followers, I know it's hard sometimes checking in on me and seeing what craziness I am going thru but this blog helps me process life. Since I am thankful for EVERYONE who stops by I have a Thankful Thursday Give Away!

A little sad....

Friends, I have to admit I am a little sad. Only 3 people entered my Give Away yesterday and I can't help but feel if I was giving away Scentsy I would have had the normal amount of around 20 or more enter.
I understand that I asked you all to not only take a chance on winning a very important book but I was asking you to pay it forward. But you know it is what it is and I hope that at least some of the insane amount of people who visited my blog yesterday really took in what Half the Sky is all about.

Half the Sky (Give Away)

What am I loving this Wednesday????? I am loving a documentary that has been made based on one of the most powerful books I have ever read..................

Friends, before I start this post I want you to know that when I talk/write about causes I believe in I feel such a heaviness in my heart to say the right words and to accurately express to you why you should care. Sometimes I think what am I doing? I need to do more? I know people who have left their lives to live in Africa (and other places) and make a real difference, what am I doing? What I am doing is...... what I can, everyone can do something no matter how big or small. I have brought many causes to my readers attention over the past 5 years for instance the atrocities that are happening in Taiji to the Dolphins. And I know that for a fact at LEAST 3 families watched that documentary due to my post and each of those families then spread the word and contributed to the cause. So I have to know that everything matters. 

So I ask you to please take the time to really read my post below.

Ok guys, 3 years ago I read the book above and it touched me so much I lent the book to others and I did a blog post about the importance of the issues in the book. Here are just some of the astonishing facts......
- Every year over 2 Million women and girls will literally vanish due to gender discrimination such as sex trafficking, maternal death, honor killings and the list goes on.
- Do you know that in the last 50 years there have been more women and girls killed than all of the men who have been killed in every war during the twentieth century? Shocking...no one reports this.
- Currently there are over 3 million girls enslaved in the sex trade.
- Every single day the number of women who die in child birth is equivalent to 5 JUMBO JETS!!! While many more ares subject to still births, fistulas and then turn to suicide.

Thunder Give Away.......

Yesterday was one of my favorite days of the year....Thunder Season Ticket Holder party!!!! I have a post I am putting together of our time (Matt, my parents and me).... we got our picture taken with players, ate free food and recieved gifts including authentic autographed player photos (I got Hayward)!
