Dear 2016,

I am gonna join this meme today.....
Me in the beginning of 2016
 Me today at the end of 2016
But for real, this morning I got out my trusty spiral notebook and looked back at this time last year to see what my goals were for 2016, I love walks down memory lane. But what started out as a hopeful year heck my word of the year was HOPE (you can see that post HERE) didn't end up being all roses and sunshine. I did have Hope all year I held it in my hand and in my heart. I had other goals some I did: Decorate the 1/2 bath, organize the mud room and become a realtor. But all the other goals were overshadowed by Trying to Conceive. I mean how could it not.
This year was the year of THIS................
You can read this post HERE
This was our 3rd year of Infertility and this year culminated with 7 failed IUI's and 2 failed IVF's. And the year ended with the news that we will not have a biological child of our own. I do want to say that looking back and seeing this picture above sadness is not the first thing that comes to mind but BRAVE. I literally cannot believe everything I had to do these past few years, I am very proud of myself. Proud of myself for doing it, getting thru and sharing my story which helped a few people along the way. And now as I have talked about before Matt and I have to work on closing the door to this and 2016.

Second was the loss of our boy Oscar this year in March. I still cannot believe it is real and I think about him EVERY SINGLE DAY. The grief of loosing Oscar was the worst pain I have ever been thru. (HERE is one of the posts on Oscar) I literally cannot even make it thru writing these words because I miss him so much and the pain is so deep. Oscar Savage was one of the lights and loves of my life.
 This year was full of disappointment and sadly disappointment in people that I am still working thru but it also brought out the best in some people who were absolutely there of me/us all year and I thank them so very much. Now here we have the last week of 2016 and tomorrow I am having all 5 (yes 5) of my wisdom teeth cut out and I am SO SCARED. I know this is routine and everyone does this for the most part but that doesn't make it easier for me. Typical 2016, ending with a crap-tastic bang.
 You know I am not gonna lie I am in a funk and I am having a hard time looking forward to 2017. How do you change your thinking when for 3 year the #1 goals was to get pregnant. I am scared because I have 2 elderly animals and I cant go thru that again, I am just scared. But quoting my husband here "You'll survive" ya, I will. Goodbye 2016 you are written across my heart forever for so many reasons.

My Best of 2016

I think a lot of people besides me had a rough 2016 but I think it is important that we look back on the good of year as well. So that is what I did and of course it was such a wonderful walk down this years memory lane. I am excited to share with you all today and of course I probably missed things but for me these were the highlights! (In NO order)

* Concerts GALORE!
My #1 concert this year and a top 5 of ALL time was AC/DC which was one of the BEST gifts Matt has ever given me! No joke this night was epic!
We also got to see Styx and Boston with Matt's family, Foreigner with my parents, Hall and Oats at Red Rocks, Journey, The Doobie Brothers and each concert was so much fun! I was a lucky girl this Summer as far as live music goes!

* My Baby Sisters wedding!
This picture below captures such a fun night with my family and I will literally always cherish this one!
 The day went off beautifully just like my sister was and being able to help out and put her at ease for her big day meant the world to me!
* Our 2 Trips over the Summer and Fall thanks to Farmers Insurance!
Boston and the East Coast has been a dream of mine so to get to spend time there was so much fun!
 And the fact that Farmers Insurance shut down the stadium before the game, made everything FREE to us and we got to watch batting practice..... I mean that was a dream come true!
 And my husband qualifying for Farmers Insurance Championship which means he is in the Top 1% of the company, so proud and happy for him and us!
 Getting to then spend a week in Savannah and Charleston was the best week and we both agree that we enjoyed this week better than Boston (how is that possible). Getting to stay at The Zero George in Charleston which is one of the best hotels in the world, I was so spoiled!
* Realtor
Finishing up Real Estate school and passing my exams to become a licensed Realtor, I am proud of myself! I am excited to see what happens in the New Year.
 * Elway Austin Savage
Of course this blessing has been SO MUCH WORK but adding a new member to the family is a big step and I know he will fit in eventually! (lol)
And we may be biased as we are with all our fur-children but Elway happens to be the cutest pup around!
* Family
Having Matt's family here in June for the Boston concert and a Rockies game, then my parents for a Broncos game is always so fun! Sharing our state with our family is always a highlight!
Memories are fun even when they only happened this year! I hope next year is full of the EXACT same!!!!!!

New Year, New Start

Can you all believe that this is the first week of 2016? I can't decide if 2015 flew by or drug by, but regardless we are in a new year. I am not a "Resolution" girl, but since Matt is big on them over the past few years I have tried. I don't like the idea of setting myself up for failure... so I have adapted the idea of resolutions to fit me. I list out goals and projects for the year. My most successful goal was 3 years ago when my goal was to loose weight. I didn't put any restrictions on it so that I would be happy with anything. And I did it, 3 years later I am still holding strong at 47 pounds lost. Last year our joint goal was to find a community we love and buy a home, which we did. Now it is time to make out 2016s goals.....
Below I have shared with you all some things that are going to help in my goals and projects this year! Things to get me started (the new comfy desk chair and glitter house slippers) and things to help me achieve! One goal is to finish 365 days of a devotional and I found the Best one, Savor! This devotional even has recipes in it, it speaks to me. Every year I get a planner to help me stay on track and this year I went with a Plum Paper planner, you can see below. Now, I am a big keeper of memories and I have not scrapbooked since Ohio... a goal it to get caught up! I am loving the Project life series from Michaels and I have already started scrapbooking this week! I also want to read 3-4 books a month and the first one of the new year will be Six of Crows, I have been hearing so much buzz about it! Lastly, via another blogger I came across The 52 Lists Project and man do I love a list!!! This book is amazing, every week it prompts you to make a list... everything from your new goals for the year to your favorite characters from books and TV! I am excited to complete this and have it to look back on in the years to come!

I hope maybe some of my stuff will inspire you in this beginning of 2016! Happy New Year Friends!
