My first date with Matt was Christmas Day 2005 followed by a Halloween engagement and then a "Fall In Love" Wedding October 27, 2007. I live in Oklahoma City, I am a Landman and have 4 animals who I adore. AND NOW the Savage's are on the move......Columbus, Ohio...here we come! I hope you enjoy my blog!!
This year with everything going on it seems like my Birthday just came and went.......it was weird, it feels like it didn't even happen and 31? What a boring Birthday....haha!! BUT I was able to sneak in a little fun other than packing.......
My Mom, Dad and I went out to dinner at Cheever's just the 3 of us before the 1st Thunder Play off game of the year......then my sister met us at the game!!!
There is NOTHING like the energy of a NBA Playoff Game! But I will say with the game starting at 8:30, it being on ESPN and all the TV time outs I did not get home until after 12:30am......I was spent!
The game was a nail biter.....it was like we couldn't get a hold on the lead but a win is a win.....98-99 US.....with KD making the winning shot at the 1 SECOND mark!
When we won by 1 point..... I swear it was like 11:30 at night and the crowd went INSANE! I loved it! We call the Mavs the "My little Ponies".............
Here Mom and I are out in Loud City outside the stadium taking it all in before the game.....I had a wonderful time with my parents and it is hard to not think.....Man, this is my last Birthday in okc. (*tear*)
Now....the day before my family celebrated as my cousin Brittany graduated from Oklahoma Christian.......
We were all so proud............Congrats Brittany!!!! I love these two.........
And......................You will NOT believe who we ran into at lunch........SERG IBAKA!!!!!!!!! Holy crap I almost died. I know some people are too cool for school....but I am not, I mean holy cow my whole family not only met Serg but we talked to one of the BIGGEST (and hottest) NBA stars! His South African accent is too die for and he was sooo polite!!! And ya, we went into the parking lot and did the happy dance! This picture below made my week........................... sigh. (just look at that silly mug on my face)
I can't believe it, as of today I have been alive for 11,322 days......it actually doesn't sound that long! I have been so busy lately that if someone didn't remind me I would of skipped right over my Birthday this year!!!
Today I plan on packing up somethings then tonight I am going to dinner with my parents somewhere nice and going to the Thunder Playoff Game! Pics to come!!!!!
Are you all ready for a long walk down memory lane? Yesterday it was clean out the attic day and man o man did I underestimate how much was in there!!! LOL.....And of course I had to whip out my phone and document this!
Lucky me I had Tony and Quinn my bestie Becky's family.........and I will say it again....THANK YOU...I could of never gotten any of this down without them.
I mean look at this! I was only able to go thru about 1/2 of this last night and I will get the rest tonight I hope....................I think it is funny how all this moving and packing makes me feel, I literally feel like I am leaving part of me behind and starting over. And when I go thru things it is hard, seeing memories that tie me to Oklahoma and my whole life actually. And ME the girl who NEVER cries..............many tears were shed last night.
I found memories after memories......I can't share them ALL with you but I thought I would give you a glimpse of what I found and a little about who I was............... This is actually my very first dance costume when I was 2 1/2! Can you believe it? In this box was years of dance costumes, dance shoes and cheerleading outfits!
This is a book we made in 1st grade and would you guess.....I wrote mine about an animal.........cute huh?
I also found my Cabbage Patch and look........here is my Cabbage Patch adoption papers, I remember how exciting this was..........Kids these days are missing out on so much.
Yes, that says October 16, 1989.......I found many spiral notebooks that I called my journals. I think these were something we did in class but I am not 100% sure! Life was so easy then.........And no, I have never had good penmanship!
Ok, this baby is VERY VERY special............. we all had 1 thing growing up, right??? This green little bear wearing overalls was mine. My Oma went back to Germany when I was young to visit her family and this is what she brought me back. I slept with it every single night thru high school. My mom had to wash it, re-stuff it and sew it up over and over. But this baby right here is love...............
And look what I found...............this is the onsie that was put on me when I was born and I actually had so much hair the nurses put my hair in a baby pony tail. It is hard to believe that something like this has survived 31 (almost) years.
Something else.......I found a plastic baggie with another baby onsie (no picture of this) and inside was a note written by my 11 year old self that said ""Special Keep Forever, Marissa DuBois first baby onsie from the hospital. Keep it forever because I love my baby sister so much" And I bawled.
Now, lookie what we have here........this gown (beading was SOO in style in the 90s) I wore this to my Senior Prom as well as Homecoming................
Here is the back, I mean back then this was quite the sexy dress but it is nothing compared to what kids wear these days!
I was nominated for Homecoming Queen my Sr Year.....................I didn't win but my best friend Jennifer did!
Here is my Sr. Prom picture with my best friend and date Brad and yes, look at my BUTT! I have to say that ALL during HS that was my "calling card" HAHHAHA!! I can even remember the conversation about this picture with my parents........we all said it is like the lighting was made for my rear! HA! Oh to be that size again..............
Senior year Pom.........I found a whole box of HS and College pictures and they were a wonderful walk down memory lane. At times it doesn't seem like me.....but like I am looking back at someone I use to know.
This was Junior Prom and my date Jeremy......sadly he was my boyfriend and being a crazy HS girl I broke up with him before Prom.....LOL! Awkward**
Ok.....these last few we are stepping WAY back in time................ this will show you I always loved a tan and being in the pool..........
And I love this picture considering now I have a black cat, funny how things come full circle! You can see the love written all over my face..........
And lastly friends......... I have always been a book worm...........Somethings don't change!
I hope you enjoyed my look down memory lane....it is hard to believe that all these memories plus so many more are spread out all across my garage!
Anyone looking for a new Hair Stylist and you live in Oklahoma??? Well my sister-in-law has graduated from Hair School and ready for YOUR business!!! She is at Masters Touch 1328 north Kelly in edmond Ask for Colby Savage 405-348-172............DO IT!!!!!! And tell her I sent you!
I am glad so many of you loved my post yesterday.........if anything I had to endure that to make a few of you laugh! HAHA!
A lot of you have been asking.....whats next? Well, assuming the couple has no problems with our inspection (I have not hear anything) ......we close May 9 on both homes. So I will give Matt power of Attorney for the Ohio closing and vice versa for the Okc closing. Then you have to allow 48 hours for the sellers to vacate, I will fly Matt back home on Thursday May 10. Then that Friday with help from both of our families we will completely load the Uhual.......and then Saturday May 12 we will pick up my mom and head out at like 6am for the 15 hour drive.
Matt will have 2 animals with him in the Uhual and my Mom and I will have another dog and my cat with us. We will drive it straight only stopping for bathroom breaks and to eat! I assume we will get in around midnight, so we will just go in the home and sleep on air mattresses and then Sunday will be the long day of unloading! My mom is going to stay thru Thursday so we can sneak in some fun while she is there!
In the meantime I have like a million things to do but as of now that is our main plan! And oh ya, that Saturday we will have a team at the house putting up a fence so when we roll in that is done for the dogs!
Hi Friends......let me tell you about another one of my crazy days....I swear you can't make this stuff up and it only happens to me........And after this whole mess is all said and done......And I am in Columbus I might have to be committed.
So....Today was our Okc home inspection and our house was built in the 80s and I am aware of the problems. The couple signed the contract with me saying "Seller makes no repairs or treatments" but if this inspection is too much they can back out. So I am already on edge and had the house spotless since this is the first time the couple will come back since seeing it!
Ok, Stay with me here.....
Ok......it is 7:30am and the inspection and buyers are set to arrive at 8:30..............And as embarrassing as this is I am a sharer.....so my toilet stops up............I do not know how to plunge? I just don't so when I tried it was tragic......it overflowed on me and it is now 7:40am so I call my Mom screaming and she arrives at 8:00am and we put drano down and then I plunge again................and it is now 8:15 (T-15minutes) and well...........it didn't just over flow.......is flooded my bathroom. (I am laughing now as I write this but only b/c I am crazy) And just picture this, my mom is jumping up and down screaming......I go into FULL ON MELT DOWN mode.........I am screaming grabbing towels and the bathroom looks like a bomb went off and the inspector and buyers are on their way. SO we finally figure out how to turn the water off and it is full to the rim and the bathroom is covered.........so I don't know what to do......I call Roto Rooter and tell them this is a EMERGENCY!!!!!!!!!! Well the inspector arrives...............I have to tell him what happened (I wanted to die) and he says "If you can get it fixed by the time I am done with the roof I will let it be but if not I have to note it"!!!!!!!!!! So as I hyperventilate and my mom is like a stunned deer in headlights we wait.......................and then 1 HOUR later Roto Rooter arrives and in 3minutes and $120 later I was back on track. I literally just cleaned up the gross mess as the inspector walked into that bathroom.
I mean why? If it will happen it will happen to ME!!!!! I mean who does this happen to?
The inspection? Well, we got the guy who is the "President of the Home Inspection Association" so he pretty much ripped me (well the house) a new one and now I wait for a few days while the couple talks it over. So ya, that was my day and it is only a little after Noon! I swear you guys....I was having a full on panic attack earlier, you should of seen me. I hope my tragic story made you all laugh, someone should get some joy out of this ordeal.
Well....I am off to wash every towel I own in my house (TWICE)
Well, we got the house!!!! The couple accepted our offer of $15,000 less than asking price plus $6,000 in closing costs! Our loan has been processed and today Matt will be at the house for our inspection which should be no problem since the house is newer. One thing I know I will love about Columbus is the trees and how green everything is.........
Here is the entryway (minus the stain glass over the door)......off the entry way is a office with french doors and a formal dining room with a huge window looking out front............
I LOVE white kitchens....I was very picky I told our realtor I would only pick a home if it had white cabinets or very very dark cabinets.....no oak or light wood. The back plash has flowers and the knobs on the cabinets are also flowers and we plan on changing both. (And the owner loved stained glass hence the weird thing hanging on the wall) I love the black granite and I am excited about new stainless appliances and the bar!!!
I love that the window has a ledge so I can grow herbs!! I want to find out if the home is ran for gas and if it is we are gonna get a gas range....the new double oven/oven ones! (look em up they rock)
The house is really a blank canvas the couple barely did anything.......the bottom floor has white carpet and grey tile in the kitchen so....the deal I made with Matt when we picked this one is....First thing we are doing is ripping everything out on the bottom floor and putting in dark dark wood floors!! I think the dark against the white kitchen and trim will bring this house into a more modern look! YAY!
This is our breakfast nook with french doors that lead to the patio......the home has 2 1/2 baths, 3 bedrooms, office, formal dining, open loft upstairs and a finished basement!!! Our lot is almost an acre!
Living room................ not sure what we will paint the rooms, but it will be fun making it our own. Weird thing is I didn't take any pictures of the master bedroom or bathroom!?
The is the upstairs open loft and off this is the 2 guest rooms and full bath....I think our cat will love this room, I can see her in the beam of sun already!
Imagine it with dark wood floors....................... (ya, I know I already said it hahah, I am excited)
The couple put over $15,000 into finishing the basement and behind that door is still a HUGE unfinished basement for storage! So.....since there is a strip of red we are going to paint all this wood white and eventually our red living room set will go down here and be a casual OU room! It also has a wet bar down here!
The master bedroom, 1/2 bath and huge laundry room are off that hallway you see on the left! We are gonna turn the laundry room into a partial mud room and since we sold all appliances with our Okc home we got new front loaders!!
LOOK!!!!!! The house comes with an awesome Koi Pond, I am kinda excited about it! I will just need to learn how to take care of it.....wonder what my boys will think of this! HA!
And here is the real gem......look at this backyard, we love it!!! The bad news??? No fence, so we literally will have to have a team come in while we are "en route" to put up a fence for our dogs. And oddly, we are only allowed a 4 foot fence?! Apparently 6 foot fences are an Oklahoma thing?
Here is our street......I love the wide streets, trees and clean neighborhood!
And we are the corner lot..................
So .....there is it! I will be excited to show you before and afters down the road. I am just excited that I will be able to focus on making this house a home and a place where friends and family can visit. I think this will help me transition to a new place.
