Cali we're Coming...

So it is finally here, I remember blogging about how Matt was recognized as a Top Farmers Agent and therefor we get a trip and then time flew by and here we are!! Tomorrow we took off to pack, run errands and clean house for my cousin Brittany to stay while we are gone. And your gonna laugh but I am going to dig out my emergency Xanax because the thought of leaving all 4 of my babies (animals) makes me want to lay on the floor and cry! (that is literal not a figure of speech)I am more than aware of the fact that we are leaving them in loving hands and my grandparents are going to come over and see them also but I literally love them JUST AS MUCH as all you people love your kids! And ps... no comments on how that will change when we have a kid one day please because I bed to differ!
Anyways... back on track! We leave at 7am Friday morning and come home next Wednesday night at midnight! I am excited and will be even more so once I get past the leaving part and packing, which might I add the weather said the highs are only 70 so what to wear? what to wear??? I thought about trying my hand at mobile blogging while I was away but don't count on it and if you see some chicken scratch of a post while I am away now you know...I tried! HA! I added some photos of some things we are going to do/see for you to think of me while I am gone... the first is a picture of our hotel the Hyatt Regency Monterey Spa and Resort and I hope it looks half as good in person as it does in the picture below..
This is the Monterey Fisherman's Wharf it is full of shopping, seafood, restaurants and fun things to do and I think we are gonna hit this up next Tuesday!!
This is our tentative Saturday morning "outing" the Monterey Bay Aquarium... it is the biggest in the US and you know all those movies and commercials with an aquarium? Well it is this one!! Everyone we talk to and every site I go to says this is a must see!!

Winchester Mystery House

SO we leave for Vaca on Friday and we are flying in to the San Jose Airport and it just so happens that the Winchester Mystery house is close by, 12min to be exact!! SO I have talked Matt into a tour before we head on to Monterey which is only 1 hour away! If you don't know the history surrounding this bizarre home I will give you the jest... Sara Winchester is the heir to the Winchester Rifle fortune and she felt like the spirits from all those killed by her rifles haunted her in the home, so she was told by a "spirit" to never stop building and thus the mystery home began. This home includes rooms with no doors, stairs leading to no where and even a room where she contacted the spirits in an attempt to please them. She built on to the home everyday until she passed AND it just so happens to be one of the most haunted locations in the US and my beloved Ghost Hunters have even filmed there!!! So you know I am excited! You can be sure I will take as many pictures as I can, I only wish I could take a night tour!!!

Reality Roundup

So I have some random thoughts about TV last night..........
Sanjolly???? I will have to admit they are cute together and I think it is funny how the rest of the "celebrities" call their hammocks the Love Nest! BUT.... I have one question..... I thought Sanjaya was gay? And so you know I am not a avid watcher of this show but at times I have been known to get sucked into an episode or two!

Oh John & Kate........... No surprise here what your separating? I think we all figured that when John was pictured apartment shopping in NYC and I think it is all about ratings these days, but then again it looks like this could be the last season of their cash cow of a show so milk it I say! One thing that bugs is that the show is not about the family anymore it is about free advertising... each week they either get custom motorcycles, Emril to cook for them and last night all the kids got some thing called crooked houses? I mean how are we even suppose to relate to them anymore when all we are watching is this family rake in FREE CRAP??? I am over you John & Kate!

And ps.......... John it looks like Ed Hardy threw up all over you and the Backstreet Boys called and they want their CZ studs back! YUCK!!!!!!!!!!

Ahh The Bachelorette................

So am I the only one who feels like no one including Jillian is really looking for a spouse but everyone wants to "win" this season??? I mean don't get me wrong I am ok with this, I still watch but there is no spark of love only talk of the "game" HA! And does anyone else notice that Jillian is drunk in like every episode she makes me laugh! Now with that being said I have chosen my main squeeze.... REID!!! Below is this photo montage I found online when googling for his pic...... But Reid is funny, I mean who else is scared of fondue? I think he is SUPER Good Looking and when he wears his glasses I love it! I kinda think he looks like my husband in a small way?!?! Anyway I have jumped onto the "Reid Train"

Tonight starts some show called NYC prep, the "real life" gossip girl kids and in the preview this 16 year old girl said she lives alone in her Park Avenue pent house and her parents visit her from the Hampton's on the weekend! This is amazing and I must watch it... it is on Bravo people!

Nicole Knows Movies

This will be a easy, cheesy review much like the movie!!! And when I say "Easy Cheesy" I mean that in a light hearted fun for all way! When we left the theater I asked Matt what he though of the movie and he said "I loved it, I was really into the story line, I laughed and I even teared up" I thought he was pulling my chain because he never says anything more than "it was good" but he was for real! He said he knows how much I love movies and is going to give me more input, I enjoy talking about the movie when it is over! So the point of that story was Matt enjoyed it as much as I did.
The story line goes Ryan Reynolds hates his evil boss Sandra and then she finds out she will be deported and blackmails Ryan's character into marrying her. The movie is very predictable but what romantic comedy isn't?

Sandra & Ryan have wonderful chemistry and between her evil glances and Ryan's understated facial expressions they add alot to the movie! It does get a tad silly at times but you can't help but laugh! Below is a picture of Sitka Alaska where it is filmed and the scenery is amazing and it almost makes me want to pack up and move! ha! Overall if you are looking for a fun summer movie to see on a date or with the family I recommend this!!!!!

I was kinda proud of myself...

So last Thursday & Friday I was in Duncan both nights for my great friend Chelsea's wedding and it was so beautiful!! I was her "wedding coordinator" and I ran the rehearsal, lined people up, made sure everyone got down the isle, I made the photo montage and then made sure the reception went as planned! Weddings are high stress situations and the feeling of knowing that I helped it go perfectly made me grin ear to ear! Everyone loved the slide show and her family was very appreciative of my help and there is no better feeling than making sure someones special day is perfection!!! I have a movie review coming up guys so stayed tuned!! And just some little tidbits on the weekend Abner is sick again, and I am not sure what it is this time. I literally rocked him like a baby last night (sick I know, ha) and he has not eaten now since Saturday night so we will see how today goes and decide on taking him to the Vet tomorrow! I mean we go on Vaca Friday and I must get him back to par by then! I know it is only my dog but please keep him in your prayers, he is no spring chicken! And I have been fighting migraines since last thurday, I have had to take my "super prescription pill" everyday and last night I woke up at 2am and had to take one and I literally cried myself back to sleep the pain and nausea was unbearable! I am feeling better now but that is not saying much. Good news is this Aug I am going to a neurologist to get a second opinion! Ok, enough of me being a "Debbie Downer"

SYTYCD Week 2

Ok, to be honest I was not blown away by anyone last night.. I mean sure Kayla rocked but her partner Max not so much (on a side note I am THRILLED Brian Freedman is on I love love love him) I LOVED the first dance the Jive it was "Fun" and full of cheer but when thinking about what dance tops it for me Karla & Jonathan came to mind. This dance wowed me with a combination of things.... the choreography for one was amazing, the song poetic, the story line and the performance seemed heartfelt. So throw those things into a mixer and a beautiful contemporary will come out...

Who do I think will get the book tonight? Asuka and her partner, they just don't do it for me. Ok, now switching gears here I really think I missed my calling as a (drum roll please) Disco QUEEN!!! I loved the Disco number even though she tripped but just think back and picture me in this routine... I would rock the socks off!! (With a ton of training let me add)

Tonight I am running my friend Chelsea's wedding rehearsal in Duncan and then tomorrow I will be out of the office doing wedding stuff!! I am excited for the wedding and Chelsea is a great friend of mine who might I add will be honeymooning in Italy! Wow huh?

So I like to visit http://www.imdb.com/ and watch newly released trailers and I came across 2 that I am very excited about. (there are more but I can't post them all) Both of these come out this fall and one is a thriller and the other is a romance or sorts based on a book. Busy Bee

I'm Back!

I came, I went, I conquered........
This weekend was our Board of Directors retreat in Tulsa and it was filled with hard work (ice chest hauling included) girl bonding, and great fun! Both Friday & Saturday were spent in board rooms while we set our 2009-2010 calender and went thru board reports and discussed ways to make Junior Hospitality more beneficial to the places we help and to ourselves as well! (that is the very short version) Each night we went to dinner followed by girl talk in our rooms!

Now, let me discuss the place below.... it is AWFUL! So it is a very fun trendy Mexican place downtown with a roof top bar but I will spare you the gory details and tell you it was some bad food (for some not all) bad service and rude people!!! I wrote the place a complaint email this morning already!!!!
I got home Sunday before noon and wanted to do nothing but lay on the couch! So Matt & I rented He's just not that into you.... I heard some people loved it, my question is how? It was NOT funny and it was LONG and DULL!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a total renter and I would not even recommend it! yuck, what a waste of a great cast!

But on a Better Note......... True Blood Season 2 started last night! And man oh man was it great!! This season looks like it is going to be even better than last year!!!

Today starts another busy week.... I have a friend (Chelsea & Coty blog) getting married Friday and I made her photo montage and I am helping her with her coordinating!! So Board retreat down wedding week here I come!!

SO Oscar likes food?

Ok, as I leave you all until Monday here is my parting gift..... My wonderful weenie Oscar is a tad possessive, no really... long story short it stems from the first few months of his life and the awful place he lived! Well he has been so great lately but when I walked in with a 25 pound bag of food he fell in love! I call him Peroni and ignore me talking silly to him but turn up your volume (scroll down and pause my media player)... this is pup guarding the food which he "claimed" and so you know he laid by this food ALL NIGHT! I just love him and he cracks me up! Enjoy..

The Brides of Oklahoma Magazine

I am Soo excited that tonight I have been asked for the second year in a row to be on the selection panel which includes the all the Editors of the magazine to help choose some of the features! I met the editors about 2 years ago at the Nafieh Perfect Proposal contest cocktail party!! They looked at my bridal portraits and at the time for about 6months they were in touch with me and told me they wanted me for the cover, well since then the beautiful bride below was chosen but I am lucky to have maintained a nice relationship with the magazine and I get to offer my opinion on the Wedding Planners who are chosen to design table scapes!
Below is an example of one of last years "Table Scapes" I got to help pick... here is how it works: Tonight we will go thru about 20 "inspiration boards" submitted by local wedding planners who have decorated them with their wedding decor ideas. We discuss the pros and cons how this would work and look in the magazine and ways to improve on their designs! It is a wonderful time and I just love seeing the final 7-9 designs in the finished magazines each January!! I am so excited but I won't be able to tell anymore because I am told this is "top secret"!!

So each week I will be posting my favorite dance from SYTYCD and last night it was tough I really think everyone came out of the gates filled with talent and a spark!!! But one dance for me has technique, emotion, passion and was a true joy to watch. The choreography of this dance is filled with love and a love for dance! This dance is hands down my favorite of the night and this is what DANCE is all about...

Be still my beating heart.... this blog is amazing in so many ways I don't even know where to begin! Below is Ree and her kiddos, she was a rich city girl who fell in love with a rancher who she calls Marlboro man and her blog has chronicled her journey from"Black Heels to Wagon Wheels"!
She is not only a mother, a blogger, but an AMAZING photographer, cook, and she home schools her children. Her days are spent cooking, working the ranch and they are building their dream home which is an unbelievable lodge!

She has part of her website devoted to her recipes and she takes all the pictures herself. Some part of me yearns for her life, busy yet simple and filled with such beauty and meaning.

She talks allot about the family dogs as well as their cattle and horses. I love the pictures of her animals running along side the cows and then soaking up the sun in a field! My animals would think they died and gone to heaven. (As long as time on the couch was included)

Anyways, check her out for yourself this woman is talented and my small description on her blog and life does not do her justice! I am a HUGE fan and her and her life!

The Kite Runner

The Kite Runner follows the story of Amir, the privileged son of a wealthy businessman in Kabul, and Hassan, the son of Amir's father's servant. As children in the relatively stable Afghanistan of the early 1970s, the boys are inseparable. They spend idyllic days running kites and telling stories of mystical places and powerful warriors until an unspeakable event changes the nature of their relationship forever, and eventually cements their bond in ways neither boy could have ever predicted. Even after Amir and his father flee to America, Amir remains haunted by his cowardly actions and disloyalty. In part, it is these demons and the sometimes impossible quest for forgiveness that bring him back to his war-torn native land after it comes under Taliban rule.

I wanted to include the summary from Amazon so this review would not only give my opinion but give you an accurate depiction of the book. "Riveting and Haunting" are the words the NY Times used to describe this book and I could not of said it better myself. This is a HUGE change from any book I have read and it takes some getting use to as you are transported to Afghanistan and even towards the end of the book the dialect and scenery at times was hard to picture in my head. This book is about feelings, guilt, love, loyalty, family and there are so many layers to the characters in this book and to the story itself and it is those layers that seperates this book from others. At times while reading this book it caused me to lay awake at night thinking about the story line or a scene that just happened. I won't sugar coat it there are a couple of things that are hard to read and swallow but everything is so important to the story and the make-up of the characters. I truly enjoyed this book and was enthralled at how thought provoking it was. Another aspect was that it really makes you see the world thru the eyes of the countless people in Afghanistan who were living their life only to have it destroyed right before their eyes... it is heartbreaking. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read something out of their comfort level or step out of the bubble of books you would usually read!

"For you a thousand times over...."

What is next? I am not sure but I think I will grab something light hearted and this novel was written by a lady who was a reporter for Page 6 and has gotten wonderful reviews.... stayed tuned!

Nicole Knows Movies (and some other stuff)

The Hangover......
This will be part movie review and part of our experience watching this movie! First of all I thought this movie was a great concept and perfectly cast. It seems that Bradley Cooper is the Tom Cruise (circa Cocktail) of our time as far as the whole sexy comedies go! At times this movie did get a tad silly and over the top but now a days what movie doesn't try to push the limits. This is a movie about 4 guys who go to Vegas and wake up to missing teeth, a tiger and a baby in the closet!! Throughout the movie they try to unravel what happened the night before and find their friend before his wedding which is two days away. Matt & I both laughed out loud at this movie and decided that when this movie hits HBO it will be one we will prolly watch over and over. Now with that being said ...even though we went Saturday at like noon the crowd was filled with "those guys" who just idolize Bradly Cooper. This "crew" of wanna-be frat boys had running commentary about everything here is an example but imagine this laced with expletives "oh ya" "hahaha that is so us dude" " no way this rocks" oh ya it was that bad! They kind of ruined the mood for us and if it is possible made the movie less funny for us because I did not want to laugh when they did thus putting myself in their "group"! But anyways the point is if you don't mind nudity and the f-word said over and over (they could of done without that and it would of been just as funny) then you will laugh your butt off!
Now moving on to the random, some of you may know I have a girl crush on Megan Fox!! Here she is at the Transformers premiere in Japan and for real if I could wake up and look like anyone I would want to look like her... stupid tattoos and all!!! WOW!
And finally Happy 46th Birthday Johnny Depp! And if you ask me he keeps getting better with age!!!

Edmond North 99 Reunion

Well as you all know this past weekend was Matt's High School reunion! We came, we saw and we conquered! This pic below is the first night at Skky Bar in Bricktown. And yes, my eyes are black as night... I have large pupils and when I get the "red out" they tend to go black! But in real life I don't look like Satan and they are blue someday's green the others!

Matt won TWO awards.... first one was "Most Body Art" and the second being "Most likely to retire at 50" And I sure hope so on that second one! This is also his friend Erin who won "Least changed since High School"

Over all at a reunion the job of a spouse is to stand there and smile and say "Hi, I am Nicole... Nice to meet you" and that pretty much sums up the weekend! Matt had a GREAT time and that is all that matters!

It has been revealed

The TOP 20!!!!!!!!!!!! WOoHoo! And next week the fun begins! Sometimes when I am watching So You Think You Can Dance I get tears in my eyes because I could only dream of being that good on my best day! Some people have such a amazing gift from God and I am certainly glad they have chosen to entertain us TV land folks with it!
This is Paris, she was my FAVORITE audition... if you don't remember her, she wore a bra top and a tutu and danced to an acoustic version of Britney Spears Toxic! It was so unique and so intoxicating I could not believe my eyes and I want to learn that dance! So.. "Go Paris"

Ah yes, The Hangover! This preview cracks my junk up........ I mean they wake up with a tiger, a baby and Mike Tyson ....HIGHlarious!!!!!!!! Matt & I hope to squeeze this movie in this weekend in between his reunion and his dad's Birthday cook out! So stay tuned for a review!

Tonight starts the festivities at Skky bar in Bricktown and then tomorrow night the banquet at Remington Park! I hope this will be fun!!!! Wish me luck!

- I am in the midst of The Kite Runner, and it is getting better with each page and the other night I found myself unable to sleep because I could not get the book and the emotions in the book out of my head! Keep posted for more!

- Tomorrow and Saturday is Matt's High School reunion and I am having a love/hate relationship with my closet, I have gathered multiple opinions but I am still left feeling unsure about things I plan on wearing! ugg

- I took Oscar to the vet yesterday and he is a tad "tubby" the vet told me he needs to loose weight and I am on it, I felt awful .... like a bad mother, I love him so much and Matt & I are re-committed to pups weight loss! Here is my fav pic of me & him!
- Next Friday thru Sunday I will be at a Board of Directors retreat for Junior Hospitality Club and I have been mega busy preparing my board report and getting the 2009-2010 Community Service calender set! Now if only I could get all the call backs I need!

- I have alot more jumping around in my head but don't want to discuss on here because I am never quite sure who all reads this and how things will be taken! I also have some more to say but at this moment it seems something has come up and I have to go (frustrated sigh**)
